Try these instructions:
Unpair all controllers using the SteamVR console
In order to connect and isolate multiple controllers, the system will pair the controllers with a unique identifier and will link this information to the tracking system. When one or both controllers are having pairing issues, releasing these settings will allow you to pair both controllers without interfering registries.
- On the PC, browse to C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SteamVR\tools\lighthouse\bin\win32
- Run exe
- Type unpairall in the console window and then hit enter.
- Once finished, the console window will display two identifiers as confirmation.
- Close the console and restart SteamVR.
- Attempt to pair the controllers again.

Are you also on Windows 10 (creators update)? Or are you using a previous version?

Couple things to try:
1. Make sure your graphics drivers are updated
2. Make sure you're on direct mode, not extended mode. You can change this in the SteamVR settings.
Let me know if that does anything.

I just sent a message up to our development team to see if they know what's causing this. It seems to be working fine for me too.
You're located in the US, right?

Overheating
in VIVE & VIVE Pro
Posted
Am I understanding you correctly that you're saying your Vive headset gets unusually hot during use and this seems to correlate with a loss of tracking? This is true for all three of you? Can you each give me the details on your set up: what version of Vive you have (Consumer, Business or Pre) how long it's taking for this to occur and how warm the room is you're playing in? It is summer, so some places can get pretty hot.
Also, probably a dumb question, but you're using the standard parts from the kit, not a third-party cable or anything, right?
Thanks,
-John C
