  1. that's the best moderator post I've seen lol. And agreed, we got a bit off topic there, ha :D
  2. I read an article with the author estimating it'll be about 5 more years for the desktop diehards to die out...I didnt realize you were one of 'those' guys...so not much use responding, lol. everyone else has accepted laptop gaming performance to have more or less caught up to desktop performance except for the diehards ;) lol. Anyways, you're tethered to a room; I'm tethered by a wire that I can at least bring wherever I wanna go to. As much as I hate the Vive's wires, I'd take that over having to be tied down even more, with a desktop, anyday.
  3. I'm pretty sure is still living in 2014 or 2015. Must have time travelled to the future, bought a HTC Vice, and then travelled back.
  4. Just to reemphasize, the purpose of my thread was touting wireless capabilities *at the time that the Vive pro was initially launched, with the only caveat/fine print being that it was coming soon, and sold separately.*. I'm not posting my unhappiness with the disclaimer that NOW appears, but how it appeared when they launched the Vive Pro. Articles at that time (...and I read tons before ordering the Pro at release) never mentioned it either. Just one of many examples: https://www.techradar.com/news/wireless-htc-vive-pro-is-360-degree-vr-bliss As someone who was on the fence about buying the pro, I decided to upgrade in preparation for the upcoming Wireless feature. As was shown off on the product page (at release). It was only months later, around E3 that the PCIe requirement started to get mentioned (and so rarely was it mentioned, even then). So now, after purchasing and waiting some months for that wireless adapter, the extra caveat is now there... which is essentially that it won't work in the majority of everyone's current rig. Had I known or had even a clue that it would not be compatible with my "VR Ready" laptop I had invested so heavily in (for the sole purpose of using the Vive), I would not have bought the Pro.
  5. Agree with your post. One thing about the display port...my laptop also only has mini display and worked with the Pro headset with this adaptor I bought: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0777RKTJB/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I don't blame you for not upgrading, ha. Just wanted to put that out there, though.
  6. Seriously...the ceiling suspension kit is not an alternative to wireless.
  7. Does anyone know if there are ANY laptops that could use the adapter? If so, which?
  8. Before E3, and even now, that requirement has not/is not being mentioned hardly anywhere and is leading people onto believing that they will be able to use it.n Im willing to bet that at least half of VR users are hooked into their laptops. Which means that the product is incompatible for majority of users. My issue is about is the understated requirements (just look at the image avove. Not evem fine print mentioning that requirements. If itbwas clearly stated Id have less of an issue with it.
  9. I was one of those that bought the Pro at pre-release. I spent hours of research beforehand, looking at the upgrades and the main reason I bought it was the "wireless adapter" that would be "coming soon"...figured I'd upgrade and be ready for the forthcoming awesome VR wireless experience. Ive been following the news and updates every day, and had been so excited as I waited for the upcoming release. Only after E3 did I find out that it will require an additional/accessible PCI-e card/slot... which basically means anyone with a laptop won't be able to use wireless. I feel so ripped off from the marketing of the pro, making it sound like the adapter would be made available for anyone to upgrade to. I don't understand, was the PCI-e requirement not known when they advertised it? Why was there no disclaimer that basically no one can use it (I'm assuming the majority of Vive Owners are using laptops). Below is the Vive Pro Product site for reference. When will wireless be available for laptop owners? I ask because I am going to (literally) throw my entire VR system away (I've dealt with so many tracking issues with the Pro already) and this was the final blow to me giving up on VR altogether.
