As a quick update in case anyone is going for a refund because there's no solution for the time being, I'm currently in a back and fourth over email attempting to get my refund, as they're trying to deny it by making every excuse they can think of. I'll update you with the resolution probably in several months.
  2. Alright so, as an update, I have given up and requested a refund at this point. I've tried everything I could try, I even ended up upgrading my GPU to an RTX 2070 with zero improvement. My card is running in a PCIe 3.0 slot, my CPU utilization never goes above 40%, my GPU never even flinches, I've completely uninstalled and reinstalled steam, steam VR, and the wireless software clean, I've tried my card in every single slot configuration possible to me, I've gone into my Bios and set all the slots to gen 3, tried changing all the settings, sliders, etc in the steamVR settings, played with settings turned incredibly down to make absolutely certain there is zero tax on my computer, no dice. I really wanted this to work, but it's nothing to do with user error or anything on the user's end, it's HTC. Their system just doesn't work in quite a few scenarios looking at the boards.
  3. Looking at it, this may just be the way it's designed. I'm used to Coax cables with the pin inside of the screw on portion that pushes into the female end, but it looks like this is just designed in reverse of that convention.

Synthesis: Changing to GEN3 definitely improved performance (the performance had become much worse to the point of not even being able to read text for the entire time the application was launched with the most recent update), but it certainly did not fix it entirely. It still jitters and has resolution drop persistantly, just not to the point that it makes games 100% unplayable. I also tried every other GEN configuration just to be thourough, with GEN3 on both slots giving the best performance. Now, one thing I just noticed when moving my WiGig card back to the second PCIe 3.0 slot (I can only force PCIE1 and PCIE3 to Gen3, PCI2/4 cannot be set in my bios) that may actually be the entire problem on my end is that when I unscrewed the wireless receiver's cord, the pin stayed behind inside the card! It still runs, but I would imagine the pin isn't supposed to come off, and that may be the source of my issue at this point, as the GPU graph actually shows everything in the green at a consistent 1.2ms, spiking at most to 3.0ms periodically, so I may just need a replacement card sent out. Another thing worth noting, the current SteamVR beta tanks the performance, putting games back into the unplayable domain. Reverting back to the current stable build gives the best performance. Alexdt: Did you set all your PCIe slots to GEN3, or only the slot using the WiGig card? I also will say, regardless of this resolving my wireless VR issue or not, changing over to GEN3 actually fixed some long standing problems I was having with my GPU just really not performing as it should, which I had chalked up to the GPU simply not being as good as I thought it was. After the change I can run my 4k monitor in 4k, and my 1440p monitor at 120hz without any problems, whereas before these settings caused a lot of strain on the system and flickering/artifacts. I had to settle for 1440p on both screens at 60hz, so thanks for that tip.
  5. Well you can certainly access your bios on any motherboard if you're saying you couldn't do that. Just reboot the computer and when it's starting up read the text that flashes by in the bottom-right of your screen giving you options. The default is usually the Delete key to enter setup, but yours could be different. You may have to restart a few times to read it as it goes by quickly. Once you're in bios, your particular bios calls it "PCI Subsystem Settings" where you can enable PCIE GEN3, check out this video for information on that. EDIT: After a bit more research, yes, for MSI motherboards it should be the delete key, or, rarely, F2. Just restart your computer and keep hitting the Delete key on your keyboard until you get to the bios, then navigate to the Advanced Folder, then the PCI Subsystem Settings folder, as shown in that video.
  6. .@Amorgeddon Honestly you're probably going to need to look up a guide on accessing your Bios and setting the PCIe slots to Gen3 manually if you're not that tech savy. Depending on your motherboard, you have to reboot your computer and generally spam the delete key (not backspace, delete) to enter your bios menu, then go to your advanced configuration, and then, for me it was my north bridge configuration where you can see the PCIe settings that are likely at "Auto" and can be changed to "GEN3", but your bios could be completely different from mine.

  10. So is anyone even looking into this anymore? Because I can assure you this is not solved for me, and I haven't heard from anyone since before my last post. At this rate I'm going to just have to refund the wireless.

In talking to one of your support members on a chat, it occurred to me that my motherboard, while having two PCIe 3.0 slots (PCIE1, which is a 16x/8x dual channel 3.0, and PCIE3, which is an 8x 3.0 linked to PCIE1), does not have two independent PCIe 3.0 slots. When I tested putting my GPU in PCIE1 with the wireless card in PCIE3, the lag was even worse than having the wireless card in PCIE4, a 16x 2.0 slot. After a bit of research, it turns out that if anything is plugged into PCIE3, the motherboard goes into 8x/8x mode because there are only 16 total lanes, which means the wireless card is now eating half the lanes that my GPU would prefer to be using, severely reducing performance. I think this is the missing piece to the problem, which really should have been caught in testing. More or less, your system requirements are wrong, only users with a motherboard holding at least two completely independent PCIe 3.0 slots can use your device in its current state. I'm really hoping you can fix this if it turns out to indeed be the problem, because I can't afford to upgrade my motherboard (and by extension CPU) to match your requirements at this point, and I truly do not want to have to refund my wireless adapter after waiting for it for so long... For other users in this thread still suffering the problem, do you have only two 3.0 slots, that share lanes with one another?

My slots are as follow: - 2 x PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots (PCIE1/PCIE3: single at x16 (PCIE1) / x8 (PCIE3) or dual at x8/x8 mode) - 1 x PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot (PCIE4: x4 mode) - 1 x PCI Express 2.0 x1 slot I had originally tested all slots, and just tested all configurations again to be thorough with no improvement. In fact, the card performs worse in PCIE1/PCIE3, with permanent resolution loss and almost complete inability to load anything. It seems to have the best performance in PCIE4, though that's still the bad performance described in my earlier posts. When it comes to distance from the GPU, I can't actually plug it in directly next to the GPU because my GPU covers the 1x slot below the primary x16. PCIE3 would be the next closest, and the second 3.0 slot, and caused far worse lag. I will note that if I try to plug my GPU in to PCIE3, my computer cannot recognize the card. The BIOS shows the card connected and recognizes it, but when I load up the computer it simply runs via the onboard intel GPU and cannot recognize the GPU no matter what I do. It's possible that in my case the card in PCIE3 with the GPU in PCIE1 is causing issues because the motherboard is trying to run the two cards as SLI or something? Not sure.

  14. Yeah that video is exactly what I'm getting. Happens everywhere, even in menus, even affects the chaperone bounds like OP stated. I have noticed that when you reset effectively everything, you'll very briefly have a stable connection, but after no more than a minute or two, the issue comes back, as if something is building up and causing a bottleneck. Also, I did update my windows with no change.
  15. I've been unable to resolve the issue through any means I've tried on my end. Has anyone had any luck? I sent a message to Synthesis but haven't got a response, and at this point I can only assume it's defective and I need to process an RMA, because nothing points to it being an issue with my PC setup, and the vive works flawlessly on a wired connection. I'm just amazed that they don't even seem to have a debugging tool publicly available to try to see where the failure is occuring. The wireless quality is so terrible that I can hardly even play beat saber with it, and that is not a resource hungry game. The blocks are so pixelated I can barely tell the direction of the arrows, and the headset even just went completely black on me for 10 seconds in the middle of a map. Edit: Also probably worth noting that this issue exists with the PCI-E card in both a 1x and 4x slot. Currently it's in a 4x because that's the slot I moved it to in an early attempt to resolve the issue, but it had no effect whatsoever, and I have to move my GPU to a different slot to put it back into the 1x so I just left it in the 4x.
