  1. Dont know if you have as bad luck as i had. I had almost the exact same problem, HDM completely dead and light was red. I tried pretty much everything, Uninstalling all the drivers and software, reinstalled win10, changed the cables to a pair that i know is working, change from wireless to link box, Also tried bypassing HDMI and USB from link box and only had power from link box. Change to a different computer that is my main and had the same problem. After about 48h of fail searching i dismounted and took apart the whole headset and found that a cable inside the vive was the fault, is had been bent and finally with time and rapid head turns while playing the cable had snapped and was completely cut of. This can not be any other than a assembly fauly since you need to unscrew 10 screws to even get down to the chip where the cables are. So long story short, The headsets display was broke since it no longer had any contact with the power supply. I will need to take this on my home insurance since i hade the HTC Vive for about 1,5 years already and this happen to me yesterday (2019-06-07) So will se if i can get a new one on the insurance. Hope this helps some poor chap with the same problem to narrow down there fail searching.
