Thanks for your support, I found a temperary workaround for this, I rolled back my NVidia driver to 417.71 (from 430.86) and everything works great now. Seems that the driver somehow conflicts with the specific hardware, for reference my laptop is MSI GS65 Stealth Thin 8RE.

I have a PC and had no problem with it . Direct mode and extend mode are all fine on the PC.

Hi, Thank you for the reply, I tried replacing the DP cable but the issue remained. And I noticed that this didn't happen if I switch to extend mode. Oh and I forgot to mention that I had to use a miniDP to miniDP cable, there's only miniDP port on the laptop.
