well i use hdmi for both of my vr and monitor :/ and about my graphic card i have geforce GTX 970 with hdmi and diplayport. what should i do so it will work ?

hey im having a problem with connecting my vr headset and the same time with the monitor... i got the hdmi spliiter and it worked on my tv and the monitor but for some reason it wont work with VR ? should i buy DisplayPort with hdmi? or there is other way?
