  1. Some answers in this thread, though not for "error = 1460", which is likely a signal error. Perhaps there is some RF interference that causes dropout, or some other instability.
  2. That's not surprising, it doesn't make sense a power cable would cause overheat. Similarly, a lot of the software tweaking suggestions don't work for most people. Fans will solve temperature, but if you're experiencing frame rate issues and dropout, check something like the program fpsVR to see how your CPU and GPU are performing. Changing wireless adapter wifi channel is also worth investigating.
  3. This is amazing. Huge thank you to HoZy for sharing the model, extremely generous. For those wondering about resistors, you've two options to get 7.5 volts when wiring them as a parallel circuit. Firstly, check what current the 12V fans run at (printed on sticker at the back of the fan). Mine are 0.12A. (get your fans from a electronics hobby store, don't stress about the height, just make sure they're 30x30mm) (Option 1) Use 1 resistor per fan (2 total). Calculation below is using 0.12A for each fan. (In the picture below Light Bulb = Fan). Each resistor is 60 Ohm. https://www.blackfiveservices.co.uk/fanspeedcalc.php?Voltage=12&Current=0.12&Target=7.5 (Option 2) Use 1 resistor for both. Calculation below is using 0.24A total to account for both fans. The resistor is 30 Ohm. https://www.blackfiveservices.co.uk/fanspeedcalc.php?Voltage=12&Current=0.24&Target=7.5
  4. Firstly, I really appreciate the long post because I'm going through the same thing. I have some conclusion for you. * 90% of the issues are resolved with a top end CPU. * All the small adjustments that can be made to enhance fps, most don't work, certainly things like power cables don't work. A better GPU is the easiest best thing for this. * However, it's an imperfect tech, and you will apparently get drop outs occasionally, it's just part of the deal. I'm not saying it's fine to be this way, it's just how it is and there's nothing we can do to change that right now - it would seem. I've also tried everything suggested on the internet and it's vastly snake oil. The only thing I can think of is if there is radio interference causing drop outs, though I've tried this in a pretty isolated environment so I have my doubts. When this works though, it is absolutely worth it. For the moment I can deal with infrequent dropouts (i.e. some sessions are entirely fine, some experience brief drop outs, some experience a disconnect). I will add though, this mod absolutely reduces temperatures and thus stability.
