  1. Hi, Apologies for a very late reply to this thread. I've found a very satisfactory and low tech. solution to my original problem. I've purchased a mannequin head, which must be white (or have a white forehead) to react to the Pro2's sensor. I can now pass my headset to my new co-pilot for as long as I care to, and I can resume control flawlessly. Regards, Jim
  2. For me, the original Console I was directed to worked fully only once. First time allowed me to choose settings. thereafter the Console appeared as a blank grey window. A query here in the forum resulted in my being directed to Steam for that version. The Console has worked normally since, but I don't like the way it blacks out one of my monitors for a moment every time it starts and stops.
  3. I am now using the version of Vive Console derived from Steam. I setup a long flight for further testing. I was very pleased to find the Pro2 still active after more than an hour off my head. Soon after that I seem to have gone too far for I had a crash right out of Win10. A little beyond one hour off my head does seem reasonable, so I can live with that. I just can't sort of abandon the Pro2 as I had habitually done with Pro1 and Valve Index. I find the Valve Console software hard to like! Perhaps unfair? Regards, Jim
  4. Hi, I've had a Vive Pro since first launched, still working well on another computer. I have a Valve index, also still operating well. My main interest in VR is flight simulation. I use P3Dv5.2. During long flights I use the Captain's privilege to leave the controls for a spell, doffing my headset as I go. In the case of the Valve Index and the Pro 1 (not requiring the Console software of course), I can leave the headset on my desk for any length of time, safe in the knowledge that when i don it once more, I'll be back in my seat at the controls, continuing the flight. Not so in the Pro 2. So far the maximum time I can leave the headset off my head, while it maintains normal contact, is 45 minutes. I know this may be a peculiar need compared to other types of games, but it is important to myself. Is there any set limit to the time the Pro 2 can remain in "standby mode" without "switching off" i.e. presenting me with a black screen when I return to it.? Regards, Jim
  5. I've completed a clean uninstall of Vive Console, followed by installing the Console from Steam. I've completed a two hour trial in VR with my Pro 2, and all seems well. I will report any further problems. Thank you for the link to Steam. Regard, Jim
  6. I will try your suggestion later, and report.
  7. Restarting the PC changes nothing. Since I can't get into Vive Console I can make no report. I've done the only thing open to me, uninstalling the Vive Software, downloading a fresh copy of Setup, and completing the whole setup procedure. I can now report Vive Console working again with SteamVR, and all is well. I would like to register a very strong impression that Vive Console does not sit comfortably with Nvidia Surround linking my two wide-screen monitors on this computer. I had none of the momentary flashing on and off of my left-hand monitor while Vive Console starts up, when I was using my Vive Pro directly with Steam. I've had to re-install Nvidia Surround several times in the last five days. Regards, Jim
  8. Sorry, no. Sequence is: Click Vive Console icon on desktop. Icon now appears in taskbar. Klick icon in taskbar. A blank grey window 7cm x 3cm appears immediately above the taskbar. No other response. Task Manager describes it as Lh Status Monitor.
  9. Hi, When I received my Pro 2 I completed the setup process, and chose settings in Vive Console, and in Steam VR. I've been using my Pro 2 for five days now, very successfully. I decided to experiment with different settings, only to find when I open the Vive Console, it displays only a small blank window with no settings. I don't know if the following has any relevance, but I'll note here what I see as I use my Pro 2. I have two widescreen monitors, running via Nvidia Surround, resolution 3840 x 1080. When I go into VR, my left-hand monitor blacks out momentarily, before Steam VR window appears. Vive Console icon appears in the taskbar but never opens, although I am happily in VR. I have not been able to access Vive Console settings since I initially set them up. Something is obviously wrong here. I hope someone can help. Regards, Jim
