  1. I managed to solve this annoying problem by following these procedures: 1- When you finish playing, ALWAYS exit through the Vive Console application, so that a turquoise screen with stars is shown static for a few seconds. Do not close SteamVR first OR turn off your linkbox or pc. ALWAYS log out via the VIVE CONSOLE app. Only then turn off the Vive linkbox. 2- As soon as you finish playing, disconnect the power cable, the USB cable AND the DisplayPort cable from your linkbox. This is because it is not enough to just turn off the Vive Linkbox, as the power SEEMS to continue flowing through the cables (from PC) and "marking" the Vive Linkbox with these multi-colored vertical lines. ONLY immediately before playing again, connect all 3 cables back to the Vive LINKBOX. Finished the playing? Disconnect the 3 cables. To remove these lines, you will have to "play" for at least 1 and a half hours for them to start disappearing from the LCD panels. After 2 hours, they will disappear completely. IF YOU FOLLOW these 2 procedures I told you about, I GUARANTEE that you will NEVER have THIS type of problem again.
  2. I FIXED IT 100% with these 2 procedures: 1- Always DETACH IMMEDIATELY the power, usb and micro display port cables from the linkbox after a session and only attach them again when - and only WHEN - you will play a session. My theory is that simply turn off the linkbox is not enough to stop the energy influx that came across the data cables, feeding constantly with energy the linkbox, what can burn the panels. I did a little test and let the cables plugged for 20 minutes after a session and it was enough to burn the panels subtly, but noticeably. If i let this for 1 hour, certainly would gave bad, bad visuals. 2nd procedure: don´t let your lenses "see" any light from your room, even weak led lights. My other theory is that the lenses are like magnifying ones that can concentrate any light and burn the panels, along hours of exposure. I know that because sun light can permanently damage the panels. However, this kind of problem we are talking about is reversible after 1 hour and half of session and is completely gone after 2 hours. After i discovered these procedures, i can do sessions of 7 hours and never have had this terrible problem again. I can turn on my hmd without fear in the day after a long session. P.s: i use a 5 meter display port cable and usb3 cables, both with repeaters + 1 display port to micro-display port cable. It is an even worst case scenario and after those procedures, it´s ok.
  3. I don´t know if it will fix problems with rtx 30xx users, BUT... after Nvidia Driver 512.95, the performance isn´t so good anymore. I have an rtx 3080 and I´am still using 512.95 Nvidia Driver which gives me the better performance possible, but sometimes i have problems with SkyrimVR (I don´t know if it is a problem with the Bethesda game or with nvidia driver<>vive console). In HL:Alyx, this driver gives me better performance too, as well as with Agony VR. 512.95-desktop-win10-win11-64bit-international-dch-whql.exe. Give it a try. Here you will find it: https://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us (with the latest nvidia drivers, the performance is subpar).

Well, my 3rd procedure (and i don´t know if it has a real effect) is to put my hmd in front of an A/C for 30 seconds after a session. After i discovered the 1st and 2nd procedures, i can do sessions of 7 hours and never have had this terrible problem again. I can turn on my hmd without fear in the day after a long session. Try it and post the result here, please. P.s: i use a 5 meter display port cable and usb3 cables, both with repeaters + 1 display port to micro-display port cable. 5. I never had this kind of problem, these.."white spots", but do this, please: don´t let your hmd´s lenses "see" any omni light, even if it is a low intensity led light. Hide your hmd (but don´t cover, it needs to breath!) from any light source. ANY. Turn your hmd´s lenses to the wall (don´t cover with any material) after use. Detach all the 3 cables from the linkbox too, even if it is turned off. Wait one day and test again. i´am curious to know the result. It´s a try, you will have nothing to lose.
  6. I have had this kind of problem (concentric rings of rainbow) and was able to solve following these 3 steps: 1- While you are not using the vp2, DETACH the cables from vp2´s linkbox (except the longest one that connects the linkbox to the hmd itself). 2- Don´t cover your hmd with anything, specially after use. It needs to breath.3- Don´t let the hmd´s lenses be able to "see" any light source. ANY, specially the brighter ones or, worst, sun rays. I´am considering the possibility that an exposure of the hmd´s lenses to any kind of light - at any distance- for some hours produces these concentric rainbow rings, even if the omni light has low intensity. I ALWAYS do these 3 steps and never have had this problem again. This kind of problem fades out after 1:30 hour (if i do not follow these 3 steps). If you are having screen tearing or bad performance, downgrade your nvidia driver to 512.95. Solved that problem too that i was having with the latest nvidia drivers. That´s it. The 1st step is specially important if you are using an DP extension cable and repeater. I use a 5 meters DP cable with a repeater and a USB active cable of 5 meters too. Probably these cables feed a considerable amount of energy from my pc to the linkbox, EVEN if the linkbox are turned off. This energy could - i think - produces the concentric rings to the hmd panels, after hours. I didn´t have any other problem since these 3 steps. I imported my vp2 from USA to here, Brazil. My 1st and only one.

  9. It seems that HTC didn´t do a proper adaptation to the newest nvidia drivers yet. I was having bad performance since july then a guy told in reddit vive forum that the last nvidia driver which had the best performance with vp2 was this: "GeForce Game Ready Driver - WHQL Driver Version: 512.95 - Release Date: Tue May 24, 2022". Since i installed this, no screen tearing anymore and, now, i have a better performance. Give it a try.
  10. I VOTE for Cangar´s request. A FORCED ALWAYS-ON REPROJECTION is a must for so high resolution HMD like VP2. I have an rtx 3080, but even an 3090 TI can´t handle it properly (without judders, stutters). This option would put VP2 as a more attractive and competitive high resolution hmd, since its competitors already have this option. Freedom of choice is ALWAYS better. Thanks. I request another thing too: UNLOCK the Ultra and Extreme modes for GTX 1080 and GTX 1080 TI cards (maybe GTX 1070 TI ?). When i bought VP2, i almost returned it because the image in Performance, Balanced and High modes were blurry (worst than my old OG Vive, although without screendoor effect). After i get an 3080 and could choose ULTRA mode, it was night-day difference. I´am sure that my old GTX 1080 TI can handle Ultra MODE with a "reasonable" performance (it has the same performance of an rtx 2080). I always have played with reprojection in my life since always preferred heavy-modded games. It is better to me have clear image than smooth fps (e.g. SkyrimVR, FlightSimulator etc). Locking ULTRA and EXTREME modes to rtx series you end up losing consumers ( specially nowadays, when high-end GPU´s are pricey and scarce). Freedom of choice is ALWAYS better. Thanks too 🙂
