  1. I made the mistake of returning my first unit which had dead pixels and purchased a replacement. I have seen very little progress in software support and have barely used the headset. Unfortunately the return window has expired and I am out $1100 which I could have used to help pay for my next purchase the VisionPro which makes this headset completely useless and obsolete.
  2. This is a male to male cable which is not too sturdy but did the job for what I needed... Amazon.com: Dciustfhe USB 3.1 Type C to Type C Extension Cable 90 Degree FPC FPV Ribbon Flat USB C Cable 3A 10Gbps EMI Shielding,10cm : Electronics
  3. I had similar issues until I started turning the controllers off as suggested above. It would make sense to have the controllers turn themselves off after a certain time of inactivity rather than run out of battery power.
  4. My main use case for the XR Elite is to watch videos in standalone glasses mode. Currently the only 2d/3d video player is the Vive Video player which has quite a few challenges to say the least. Following are some of the issues with the software: 1. Unable to browse for local files at will. When clicking on the local files the software looks for video files in specific locations. If they are not there then nothing is found. This is very restrictive and you have to guess where the system is trying to look for the files. Would be nice to be able to browse the file system at will. 2. It would also be nice to be able to browse for video files on external usb storage devices then you do not have to copy to local storage. 3. When viewing a 2d video there is no way to move the screen forward or backward, just make it larger or smaller. 4. It would be nice to utilize the controller buttons for fast forward/rewind/pause, and be able manipulate the screen size/distance with a single click of a button. 5. Ability to reorient 3d video viewing angle. Currently you must sit horizontally to watch a 3d video. There is no way to move the viewing angle into a comfortable laying down position to watch this type of videos. There is the ability to do this in 2d videos but it takes multiple clicks and is still restrictive. The UI should be more intuitive and allow for such features. 6. This is not a problem with the video player but is related. When I copy video files in usb mode using my PC to the headset the copy often fails due to a timeout since I do not have the headset on. The system should recognize that a copy is in progress and not abort the operation. If HTC fixes these issues the headset will be much more usable. The best and fastest solution would be to get SkyboxVR port their software to the XR Elite.
  5. I managed to purchase a small cable that would fit into the slot and it behaves exactly like the usb c on the top of the battery. It recognized a storage device etc....
  6. Maybe I can ask the question in another way. What is the intent of this port if the opening is too small to insert any standard usb c objects such as cables, memory cards etc... ? Thanks
  7. I have tried many cables to try to connect to the side usb c but none of them fit. The port is recessed and the opening is very small to fit everything I have tried. Any suggestions of what I can use to utilize this port? Thanks
  8. XR Elite does have a small battery for not losing power while hotswap. Take a look at the teardown video.
  9. I reluctantly ended up returning mine. Ran into too many software issues. Maybe if they get fixed I will re-purchase. What a great shame because I had high hopes for this product especially the glasses mode.
  10. Just noticed that part of the accessories for the XR Elite are a set of 3 Temple Pads. This is an excellent idea and it made me realize that you should probably consider making them in 3 different sizes from wide to narrow to accommodate a variety of head sizes.
  11. It is exclusive to the Vive rear battery only. The Vive cannot distinguish between an external battery or a power brick being plugged in, it just knows it has power.
  12. Skybox is the best but I will settle for deovr. I use them both in PCVR (steamVR) mode but it would be nice to have them local.
  13. Is there a simpler way to submit a ticket other than from within the headset? It is time consuming and cumbersome which may discourage users to report issues.
  14. I did contact support (ticket # 50492674) and they suggested either repair or return to Amazon. I requested an Amazon return and will be shipping it back soon. Also re-ordered another one however it is backordered until May.
