  • 2 weeks later...

Hello Admin,

Thanks for the update.

In DCI (Digital Control Inc.) I m working as a Lead Engineer and team is working on VR simulator Aurora Vision and we have already released our first version to clients. We are about to release second version in next quarter.

Last week we got some issues while playing the simulator.

Issues coming after playing certain duration (45 mis to 60 mis) in the simulator:

  • Frame rate drops drastically and it’s difficult to do actions within VR.
  • Sometimes total blackout in VR headset but application is running as things are visible on desktop.
  • Two times observed both eye blinking continuously.

The systems info in which we observed this issue are:

1.       Alienware Area51 Desktop

  • OS                        Windows 10 Pro
  • Processor           Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-7900X CPU @ 3.30GHz (20 CPUs)
  • RAM                    32GB
  • Graphics             NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 32GB

2.       Lenovo Legion

  • OS                        Windows 10 Pro (Lenovo Legion Desktop)
  • Processor           Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9700K CPU @ 3.60GHz
  • RAM                    32GB
  • Graphics             NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070

System using:

  • Headset                           Vive Cosmos / Vive Pro
  • Steam VR version            1.19.7
  • Vive Console version      2.0.18.2
  • Vive Port version             1.4.13.3
  • Unity Pro version            2019.4.26 (with URP version 7.3.1)

We didn’t observed this in previous version of our simulator, so we investigate to find out if there is any issue with our last fixes. After investigating 2 days we came to know that lag/balckout is also coming in our earlier builds in which we never encounter such issue. Further investigating we found that the machine in which the Vive console is not upgraded has no such issue.

In Vive Console release notes we found “right eye blinking” issue was fixed but this issue still coming with version 2.0.18.2 and apart from that application starts lagging and frame rate drops drastically after 45 - 60 mis. Yesterday we saw there is one hot fix (Beta release) related to some crash in machine using AMD.  We installed beta in hope that issues might get resolved in this but unfortunately, we face the same issue.

Additional observations, GPU and CPU are not fully occupied and still the application was lagging:

Attached Image (ref1) for reference .

If you need any information to debug/investigate, I will be happy to help.

It will be great if you get this issue rectified ASAP as our Beta build is already with client and they are also facing the same issue because they have also updated the Vive Console. (They are having Lenovo Legion with same configuration mentioned above).

Prateek Pathak.

@PRATEEK Thanks for posting up issue here.  Please also check if the NV driver condition for your setup, it sometimes went south for no reason.
Do you think you can submit a log via vive console after you observed the performance drops? so that we can take a look where went wrong?
Or it will be quicker if you are willing to provide us the AuroraVision software(trial version is fine if it can also be observed), we will see if we can replicate the issue here on our end.

Thanks
C.T.

Hi Admin

Nvidia driver before and after update there was no such lag/blackout observed in the application.

I have already submitted the log via console. But not immediately after i faced this issue i will  submit the log from both machine after getting this issue.

Unfortunately I cannot provide Aurora Vision software as the application has some dependency to run using encrypted dongle which can only be given to clients due to security reasons.

regards,

Prateek Pathak.

Hello Admin.

I do also experience similar issues with my Cosmos Elite.

I would like to know if there is a way to backroll Vive console software to VIVE Software 2.0.17.2 (Hot-Fix) ?

Redgards NerevarDZN

what issues are you encounter?
