Access to Focus3 headset proximity sensor via openvr?

From a PCVR app, I need to detect whether the user has put on the headset.  I currently do this with other headsets using the proximity sensor.  However, I have not found a way in the openvr api to get information about the proximity sensor for the focus3 headset.  Is it possible through the htc streaming/rr driver to obtain that information>?
