SmallStudio
Hello, I'm looking for a way to manage controllers when the hmd can't track them anymore, for example when the player's hands are in is back. For now I'm considering a field of view starting from the hmd to determine if hands can be seen by the player. It's working so far but it's not perfect, I was wondering if there was some kind of more precise event that I can register to ?
dustinandrew412
Hello, Thank you for reaching out. Managing controllers can be a challenging task, especially when the player's hands are in their back and the HMD can't track them anymore. As for your current approach of using a field of view starting from the HMD to determine if hands can be seen by the player, it's a good starting point. However, there may be a more precise method to achieve what you're looking for. Have you considered using the hand tracking feature on the HMD itself? Some HMDs have the capability to track hand movements even when they are not in the field of view of the cameras. If this is an option for you, it may provide a more precise and accurate solution to your problem. Another alternative is to consider using a Replacement Chester, which is a device that tracks hand and finger movements. This may provide a more precise solution for registering events and tracking the controllers. I hope this information is helpful for you. Let me know if there's anything else I can assist you with.
