got a bit lost and accidentally posted to viveportal support...

Anyways, the solution was:

  • Vive OpenXR plugin 1.0.5 needed to be updated to 2.0.0
  • and the Vulkan API changed to OpenGLES3.

Now our new builds of the apps are working fine.
Feel free to PM me for details if you wish. 🙂

  • 2 weeks later...

Hello I recently updated from
1.0.999.494 to 1.0.999.508 on the VIVE XR Elite.
I am using the VIVE OpenXR Plugin version 2.0.0.
Then based on Richard Révész's post, I tested Vulkan and OpenGLES3.

When using Vulkan all I see is black in the headset.
When using OpenGLES3 I can use the apps as normal.

Since I had auto update on it took quite a long time to figure out what had changed. (Headset state after shipping it, Unity related, or XR Elite based). I guess I will turn off auto update on our groups demonstration  headsets.

I confirmed the behavior above on multiple headsets.
