pavan Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Dear Team, I've been successfully using the Vive 3.0 tracker with two base stations for the past year, and the setup has been performing exceptionally. I have a couple of questions regarding a new project: I am looking to track an Automated Mobile Robot (AMR) in a freezer warehouse operating at -18 degrees Celsius. Is the Vive 3.0 tracker suitable for this environment? Given the large size of the warehouse, I am considering using up to 10 base stations to ensure comprehensive tracking of the AMR. Would using this many base stations create any interference or affect the accuracy of the tracker poses due to overlapping signals? Thank you in advance for your assistance. Best regards, Pavan
VIVE_chengnay Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Hi @pavan, I found post discussing about temperature. Are you able to pre-trial just two base stations in such cold condition?
pavan Posted August 1 Author Posted August 1 Thank you @VIVE_chengnay for your prompt response. I understand from the attached post that -18 degrees Celsius is not suitable for the operation of the Vive tracker and base stations. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to conduct any trials in cold conditions yet. On a different note, could I consider using up to 10 base stations to ensure comprehensive tracking of the AMR in a large space at ambient room temperature? Regards Pavan
VIVE_chengnay Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Hi @pavan, You can refer to below post for more information. https://steamcommunity.com/app/358720/discussions/0/1751232561636727312/
pavan Posted August 1 Author Posted August 1 (edited) Thanks again @VIVE_chengnay After reviewing the provided link, I noticed that the comments and the post date back to 2018, leading me to believe that the experiments mentioned were conducted with Vive 2.0. I'm interested in understanding if there have been any improvements or updates with the release of Vive 3.0. One of the comments mentions that "when you move too far from one base station 2.0, it attempts to connect to a closer one, causing a white flash. Each time this happens, there seems to be a risk of the play space becoming completely disrupted." Is this issue still present? Reliable tracking with just 4 base stations seems like an area of improvement in future. Regards, Pavan Edited August 1 by pavan
