VIVE 3DSP Audio SDK feature introduction : Occlusion effect

Recommended Posts

In 3DSP SDK, the function of sound occlusion works well.

The feature is often used for the content designs.

When a sound source is occluded by something, it can be expected to experience the difference at sound response and sound level.

Further, the different occluding material represents the different intensities on the sound response and level difference.

In this SDK, the function Occlusion effect is provided to perform the sound feeling for the case as the sound source is occluded.

Traditionally, for the purpose, the application of collider is necessary.

In the case, the collider is often adopted to decide the occlusion rate and then the occlusion effect of sound object can be performed.

However, the collider application is generally used for the physical event in the scene.

So, if any collider is used in the sound event, it is complicated for a content developer.

In the process of this SDK, the occlusion rate can be calculated without any collider.

The calculation engine of physics is available in the SDK and the computing consumption is very light.

A content developer can easily use this function to present the sound occlusion directly.

In the following video, a door is opened and closed automatically when the user stays there.

The difference of door opening and closing can be found because this feature.
