The passthrough feature is based on application's Project Settings, there is no general settings to control that.

When screen freezes, i usually hold power button to shutdown the headset. This is the only way i can back screen to work. If i dont hold power button, the app and headset work i think correct because i still hear sounds and when press "right elite button" (the button one) i hear sound from popup menu to close the app. But cant aim Exit button because the screen doesnt update any more. So in logs you will see probably normal things if i press random buttons. I can try to connect for example X button to Quit function and check if close the app and back to lobby helps.

Please collect logs from Start application until screen freezes and wait until it returns to Lobby. If it doesn't return to Lobby after 5 mins, then I suspect system halted. We would like to find out what happen after screen freezes.
