So i purchased the htc vive pro but didn't realise i needed a displayport, my laptop doesn't have a displayport or a mini displayport so i was wondering if it would work with a Minidisplayport to Hdmi cable or anything else like a minidisplayport to D-sub or minidisplayport to USB 3.1 type C?

Hi

I run a Vive pro from an imac pro with an Aerofara USB C (Thunderbolt 3) - mini displayport cable.

I read somewhere that a quality cable is prefereable to an adaptor.

, Sorry for the delayed response, it seems my response didn't actually post. Unless you have a DP1.2+ compatible output, you will not be able to use the Pro unfortunately.  I would always refer to the OEM of your hardware to verify what hardware capabilities it has - from afar, it does seem like this specific model is not Pro compatible.

, oh dang - that's one way to solve that issue @_@.... I think that this one should be good (and overall be much more suitable due to its 1080).

Which MDP cable did you buy? We're recommending the 3 foot variation of this cable in case you have troubles with the one you ordered.
