Viveport installation does not work

Hi all hoping someone can assist.

I have tried multiple times to install viveport desktop, and it fails every time.  I've uninstalled/reinstalled both steam and vive applications, ensured they are both residing on c: drive, yet every time i attempt to install the viveport app, I get the following error:

When I try to either point to this location, or copy the msi over to another directory, I get the following:

Can someone please assist?  this is driving me nuts!!!!

BTW - this was working until about July, so the machine i'm on does run VR with no issues.

Check and make sure you're running as an administrator and your firewall/anti-virus isn't shutting it down. I think that it's trying to use a network resource is a clue. You might also want to make sure you don't have a network drive set up that it's pointing to.
