setup help

essentially my laptop has no display port or mini display port.

is there a way for me to use my headset? I have a female display port to male USB-c adapter. the headset recognizes the cord as it mirrors my screen (upside down and flipped image??) but wont let me get past setup (pic attached). 

wondering if anyone has bypassed this issue or knows if/how to. 

i had a job at a VR centre but lost it due to corona virus and it closing so thought id pick up my own. my laptop can run the OG vive fine (though HDMI) but id rather the cosmos, and dont wont to fork out $2k for a tower just to play VR as buying this was already a huge chunk of saving while being jobless.

Unfortunately, the headset needs to connect to the DP our from GPU.
