ryancomics Posted April 28, 2018 Posted April 28, 2018 I recently built a new pc and a few seconds after starting the vive installer I get a vive installer has stopped working message. I had vive running fine on my previous setup. The computer I'm trying to install on has Aorus z370 gaming 7 motherboard, i7 8770k, 16gb ram, gtx 1080ti, and I'm trying to install onto a 960 evo 250gb. windows and drivers are up to date, brand new clean install of everything. I have tried running as administrator and with different compatibility modes. Running as administrator results in the same error and if I try running in compatibility mode it says that it doesn't support compatibility mode. What else should I try? Thank you all help is greatly appreciated!
Synthesis Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 Interesting. Do you have the installer white-listed in Windows Firewall/Security and any other security software you might have?Thank you, -John C
ryancomics Posted May 7, 2018 Author Posted May 7, 2018 Thanks for the response, I found the problem was that I was missing directx sdk.
A User from Taiwan Posted April 21, 2019 Posted April 21, 2019 If both "VIVE setup" and "steamVR" are unable to work, users are unable to do anything except RMA. Do you have standalone tools for advanced users? e.g., for USB firmware updates, driver checks, functionality checks?
A User from Taiwan Posted April 21, 2019 Posted April 21, 2019 For the SDK thing, users won't expect such complicated way to install a gaming platform. The portal app for VIVE, VIVE and steamVR, are just too important. If they are not easy to use, most players will just get traped and angry.
