It's easier to read text through the IPD pop up display. Can I do that another way?

When I use virtual desktop, it is a lot easier to read text when I'm adjusting IPD, and reading the text through the partially opaque grey IPD display.

Is there a way to turn on a similar filter for the entire screen?

, I'm not aware of anything that specifically accomplishes this. It's entirely something that's possible via OpenVR/SteamVR, I just don't think anybody's done it specifically for this use case. 

 

The hacky way to do it would be to use OVDrop and lock a transparent overlay to your face.
