billstew
Purchased new laptop and new Vive Pro and cannot get the display port connection recognized during setup. Laptop is an MSI GS73VR which has both a MiniDisplay 1.2 port and a Thunderbolt 3 port. I have a direct cable connection from the MiniDisplay 1.2 port to the Vive link box, no adapters. No matter how i disconnect, reconnect, etc it does not detect the display port connection. Is this cable supported? https://www.bestbuy.com/site/apple-1-6-thunderbolt-cable-white/7944078.p?skuId=7944078
HackPerception
Hi , Surprisingly enough, Apple branded thunderbolt cables are actually not DisplayPort 1.2+ compatible and thus are incompatible with the Pro despite sharing the same mDP style headers. We're semi-officially recommending the 3 foot version of this cable as it's affordable and we've yet to have a report of it not working.
billstew
Thanks, I actually already have the 6 foot version ordered, will i have issues with that cable because it's 6'?
HackPerception
, It will probably work but I can't say with 100% certainty as the sample I have was not 100% compatible with every computer I tried it with (but did work on most of the sample PC's I tried).
