  1. Uninstalling and reinstalling the wireless software has done nothing.  I have been able to remove all usb drivers, create a new windows user, and then reinstall the hardwired headset and linbox.  After that I install the wireless adapter app and switch to wireless.  It has worked twice this way for about 4-5 mins but then dropped out as before.

I am hesitant to wipe my box as I have a lot of other things I use it for.  I am looking at setting up a second box with a clean install of Win 10, moving my video card and vive to it to see if it works there.

  2. So having read of other people's success of doing a clean install of Windows I thought I would try something.  I didn't want to reinstall fully as I have numerous other things installed on my PC, so instead I created a new Vive user.  I then installed Steam, Steam VR, and the wireless app.  I switched back to the hardwired linkbox connected to the HMD and let all the drivers install.  I then switched back to the wireless adapter.  The HMD came on and I was able to confirm that the camera was disabled in SteamVR.   I started a game, thinking it was all fixed.  It worked for about 30 seconds, then blacked out as it did before.  This time I was able to hear USB connect/disconnect tones.

I have concluded that something about the HMD is continually connecting and disconnecting USB devices.  If I view the USB devices in SteamVR they do not all show as on.  This is incredibly frustrating, I don't believe the device is ready for prime time.  If  I can't get it working in this weekend I'll be returning it.

  4. I've had my Vive wireless working with my system using my old 970 video card, but it was dropping frames so I upgraded my card.

I have installed my new nVidia 2080 and was able to get the wireless to work perfectly through two games of Beat Saber.  At the end of the secong game the HMD went black and I heard USB device disconnect tones come from the PC.  Since then I have been unable to get the HMD to work wirelessly.

I uninstalled all Steam USB drivers.  I plugged the old linkbox back in and ran the HMD with wires, it works fine.  I then disconnected the wires and moved back to wireless (inluding disconnecting the video cable from the video card to the linkbox).

The wireless app will pair with the wireless HMD and show 4 bars.  Blocking the antenna reduces the number of bars.  After 45-60 seconds the wireless app will say "Headset not detected" even though it is paired and showing a signal strength.  SteamVR is gray showing no devices connected other than the top 3.

The side led on the HMD always glows red when power is connected.
