Recommended Posts

I have an I7 4770 with 20GB of RAM. I know my video card needs to be replaced and have a 1070 coming but when I run the Steam VR test is states my CPU does not pass??

Help before I go spend MORE money please!

Im going to say your CPU is good enough if running at full/correct speed.  That processor is more than capable of running the vive and software.

Make sure your CPU isnt over heating and being throttled?

http://www.cpuid.com/

I use CPUID to see what the computer is actually running at, and then HWMonitor to see my temps.  Both are downloaded for free from that site.

EDIT:  Also make sure your running the test on a fresh reboot and nothing is running taking up CPU usage in the background.

Hello Thall17,

I see you have a problem with Minimum specs

Given what information you have provided, I have these suggestions to resolve your problem:
• Consult minimum spec requirements (Ill go ahead and post them for you)

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970, AMD Radeon R9 290 equivalent or better
CPU: Intel i5-4590, AMD FX 8350 equivalent or better
RAM: 4 GB or more
Video Output: HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2 or newer
USB Port: 1x USB 2.0 or better port
Operating System: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1 or later, Windows 10

from what I can see you meet the minimum requirement, Hopefully well be seeing you in the community!

(as far as your test saying the CPU isnt ready, you may be getting a bottleneck from the GPU thus limiting how much power the CPU can push.)
