cas201
Hello all, I cannot get my headset to be detected. Steam error 208. Using mini DP. I have tried everything I can find online. any solutions? using GTX 1060. all drivers up to date. tried restarting/rebooting headset and box. uninstalled all USB drivers. reinstalled vive setup, same issue. I am using this cable: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C7RJQPY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=
cas201
update: also, when the "detection check" is performing on vive setup, it detects USB, but not HDMI (mini DP)
Synthesis
Can you try using HDMI directly instead of DP? If possible, can you also try to bypass the linkbox and then try swapping out the HDMI cable as well and see if we can narrow this down. Thanks! -John C
cas201
Hello, I have swapped out with HDMI, used mini DP. plugged the vive directly in. windows WILL NOT see it as a display. I plugged it directly into another machine I have, and the desktop comes up on the display. but not here on my laptop. GTX 1060.
cas201
Sorry, I have re-installed windows, viveport and steam VR as well. same issue. graphics drivers are up to date too
Synthesis
Could there be an issue with the GPU? You're using the 1060 as your monitor display driver as well, right? I can't think of a reason that it wouldn't be detected at all unless there was something wrong with the card or the cable, but you already confirmed it works on another PC and it's almost certainly not a software issue since you reinstalled everything. Thanks, -John C
cas201
It was the 3-in-1 cable. lose at the headset end.
Synthesis
Great! Yeah, sometimes just reseating the cable is all you have to do.Thanks, -John C
