ludicroissant
Am I able to use the USB C port on the regular vive controller to input information during use?
HackPerception
, Hi - this is a bit confusing. Are you referring to the USB-C port on the Vive Pro HMD or the micro-USB connector on a Vive controller? The current controllers do not have USB-C.
ludicroissant
Sorry, I meant the micro-USB on the Vive controller. For example, could I have a second device with more buttons that sends its inputs to the vive controller, which then are used in-game?
HackPerception
, as far as I'm aware this isn't supported. If it is technically possible - there aren't development tools in place to provide examples or a starting point. The watchman protocol is specifically signed for low-latency communication and employs things like advanced compression methodology to ensure that the entire tracking system is as responsive and accurate as possible; having these dedicated radios take on additional tasks could impact the UX. An simpler and likely more robust approach to this would be to use a separate bluetooth radio for additional controller mods rather than trying to piggyback off of the controler's radios.
