StormySkies Posted October 12, 2018 Posted October 12, 2018 (I originally made this thread in general discussions but moved it here) I know, I read the minimum hardware requirements, and I know it TECHNICALLY can handle the wireless adapter, However, I've been hearing people say that i5 CPU's (new and old) in general have difficulties running the wireless application smoothly. So, before I go dropping 300 dollars on this amazing product, I would like to know if my CPU would be able to even handle the darn thing without any graphical issues, in the first place. Specs: GTX 1070ti Intel core i5 4690k (no oc) 16 gigs of ram
Vanityassassin Posted October 12, 2018 Posted October 12, 2018 It doesnt really handle the adapter very well. I have the same specs as you and My CPU was pinging at 100% load once you turn on wireless and most games are just unplayable with lots of frame drops and video quality popping in and out. It wasnt a very fun experience..
HackPerception Posted October 12, 2018 Posted October 12, 2018 , while that CPU is the hardware minimum, various apps will have additional overhead that will impact your performance. I would not recommend purchasing the unit with min spec hardware given the field reports from other users, especially if you play demanding titles.
StormySkies Posted October 13, 2018 Author Posted October 13, 2018 What cpu would you recommend? Do you think the "i7" version of my cpu could handle it?
StormySkies Posted October 13, 2018 Author Posted October 13, 2018 How about this one? I know ill need a new mobo but it looks like it'd work https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117825
mirak Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 I have a i5 4690 and a 1070, and it works fine with a game like Pavlov. I have to try more demending games.
HackPerception Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 - That's probably okay for most demanding apps.
