......any chance of getting new ones? Aftermarket options looked cheep, would like the nice ones they came with. A chainmail option would be good as I doubt my bad cat would be able to eat that.

I don't believe we offer replacements for these as it's kind of difficult logistically to support a small volume item like the wriststraps which aren't in very high demand. Generally speaking, the Vive community recommends using Wiimote replacement leashes as they're specifically designed to be used with a motion controller like the Vive and are very high quality. They can be had pretty cheaply on Amazon or at a local game store.
