croeymwong
posting this solve bc i wish someone had done it for me. i should not have had to suffer. i run a showcase that needed to locate the machine far away from the vive (100+ feet away) i went through 4 solutions before i landed on something that worked for the regular vive (not pro). i will be updating this thread with several configurations (regular wireless, Pro and Pro wireless) For reference. I used https://www.crestron.com/en-US/Products/Video/HDMI-Solutions/HDMI-Extenders/HD-EXT3-C-B_SYSTEM and https://www.extron.com/product/usbextenderplus to extend. The assembly on this is important. I used 2x of the hubs, one on the server room side to handle the USB and the HDMI matching, then routed through the Crestron HDMI extender and pushed the USB via the extender plus. In the room I terminated in, I plugged the vive HDMI and USB directly into the out sides of the extenders and used the second hub to power the vive. no, this is not a cheap solution. yes you may be able to do with other parts. i did find on very short runs (6ft) that https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019MADOS8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 would work. At the lenghts i was doing, the image would blink out (2 seconds on, 3 seconds off). the crestron solution won out with no blinking.
HackPerception
We've had a few similar threads in the past - they're a bit difficult to surface via search and some of them are in private boards. A few arcade operators have reported process with the following setup using Cat 6a under 150 feet - we've not verified the solution firsthand - if anybody has deployed these IRL we'd love to hear about your experience. AV Access HDMI Extender IOGEAR USB 4-Port USB Extender over Ethernet 164’ I'm glad you found a robust solution for your installation - it's very difficult to find a reliable system of this sort, especially one that's low latency. Thanks for sharing this!
