  1. I am of the same opinion about the software. And just for the record, I am Vive-only so I have no Oculus software installed.

Best thing to try is to connect your Vive straight to the video card with the cables that go between the computer and link box and see if that cures the problem. I've seen videos where the problem was the USB and others being the HDMI connectors at the headset would fail to make proper connections or had a possible broken wire at the plug. Worth a try since if this is the problem, all that would be needed would be a new 3 in one cable. Regards: Jack Did that solve the problem for you? How long had you had your Vive when the problem started and about when did it start? New cable solved it for you? The first time I recall having the problem was just after I joined the Vive subscription which was 4/30, then based on my work schedule, it was probably around 5/10 when I was trying out the games. I remember it was "Firebird - La Peri" I was watching when it carped out on me the first time. Anybody else able to I dentify when the problem started? I'm wondering if and what software was changed about that time, perhaps some fixes that introduced other subtle problems that we are all experiencing. Thanks for everybody's help.

Last night I threw sheets over the plastic floor mats in my office (the kind so your chair will roll on carpet) trying to reduce reflections. At fist I though it helped but after 40 - 60 min I was right back in the whiteout.
  4. It is 77.7ºF in my room right now and I had the problem last time I played a couple hours ago. I have the consumer model of Vive that has single cable. In my headset I have the VR Lens Lab lenses and also their cotton cover over the face cushion. Other than that, all stock.
  5. I'm all for brainstorming. We might get lucky & I'll take a solution any way I can get it. Do we care about the ambient temp in the room? i.e. this time of year it is probably anywhere from high 70s F to mid 80s F in my room. But what about the IR? Would there still be abunch of IR coming off the hot aluminum sided walls sitting in the sun, eventhough the rest of the room is full of air conditioned air? Note: today it was raining all day and very little sunshine and I still had he problem. I had myself convinced for about ten minutes today that the problem went away if I turned the HMD upside down. I'd be interested to hear if this works for others. Oh yeah, I'm a big fat guy with long hair so a lot of times the HMD is pretty hot by the time I give up and sometimes I even have to pause and wipe out my eyes with a paper towel in mid-game. There can be other times when I will do 30-40 minutes in Audioshield and not have a bit of problem with the whiteouts.
  6. I have the same problem. It's been acting up for about a month. I've had it for 6 months. I *think* it was better before but it could be that I'm playing more games now that use more of my play area. Honestly not sure. I just know that at the beginning I didn't worry about this at all and now it is a constant problem and is ruining everything. I can't even defend the castle in theLab without a couple of whiteouts. Two days ago a guy talked me into trying the sync cable and it did not help. Like Aidarpro said, mine seems to get worse the longer I play. I'll move a base station, run room setup, then I'll be testing it out, thinking everything is cool, then as soon as I start getting "Immersed", BAM, I see white and its back to harsh reality. Like today I was just playing the Wave and I was really getting into exploring the universe and I got a flash, the some more, then by the time I gave up it's like it had its mind set on not letting me look in exactly the direction I need to look. I don't know how to proceed. I would gladly buy another base station if it could use three just to eliminate the bad spots. Even defending the castle from the hoard I have to remember where the guy was and take my shot blind and hope it comes back. Somtimes when it whites out, I'll peek out and I am staring stright at a base station. :mansad:
  7. I believe I have experienced similar symptoms. That's why I was gung-ho about you checking the cabling. On mine, I wasn't sure whether power or HDMI but it also seemed to be sensitive on output side of link box. I also had the thought of a strain relief clamp of some sort. I second Droolguy's request. And I'm not in that big a play area, I just tend to get my cables wrapped around my chair when playing seated and twisted in a knot when playing room-scale.
  8. Check linkbox cabling. Make sure every cable 100% inserted at every point. Don't forget there is a cable junction up in the HMD.
  9. Have you checked your language setting in Windows control panel? That also effects time, date, currency displays.
  10. Could you please post a link or a youtube search argument to one of the videos you are talking about? I'd like to see what you're talking about. Thanks. -Marty
