  1. Keeping fingers crossed for everyone 🤞 Looks like a bunch of us are due to receive it Wed. Guess that guy taking a long smoke break must have gone back to work. 🥴 🤪 Like the Romans use to say, Let the games begin 😬
  2. I keep reading on Facebook forums about other people wondering when they will ship it, I have mine in Processing for 5 days now waiting for fulfillment. Money taken from my Bank for it too. What happened? Did Vive drop the ball when it comes to shipping? I am starting to think there is one guy boxing and shipping the Headsets and this one guy is now taking a long smoke break 😐
  3. Your link has quite a lot to view, This will keep me busy for awhile. Thank you very much :)
  4. Thank you for the two video links, I love learning all about this, I feel like a dry sponge ready to soak all this up. Again, Thank you
  5. Thank you very much. I understand some of what you have explained, I will look up the rest as to understand better. I am always curious as to how something works and I was really curious about the Vive lens and figured there was a really good reason. The creators of the Vive really did their homework in their design of the Vive. I am so happy when the time came to purchase a VR Headset that my choice was HTC Vive. Thank you both for your time.
  6. I would like to understand why Fresnel lenses are used in Vive Headsets. What was the reason for deciding to use Fresnel Lens in the production of the Vive. I have a little bit of understanding when it comes to lens because of my background in what is called Lythography and my knowlege of making Holigrams with laser way back in the day before VR was around. I am just curious about what was the thought that when into this and why Fresnel. Any Feedback would be most welcome. Thanks
  7. For me, It took a few days for my order to be filled. Then shipping was fast. They shipped it FedEx. They will send you an email with all shipping info with tracking number. When you get your Tracking number, Then you will know what day to expect it. If it looks like you will not be there. FedEx has the option for you to have them hold it until you can come pick it up. (It will require you to sign for it) They ship ship it with signature required for delivery. I ordered mine on a Thursday and receive it on a Monday, I had to deal with a weekend, You dont so that is good. I hope this info helps
  8. My guess is your using Microsoft Edge as your browser, If that is the case, Try Internet Explorer. I have the same thing happen to me and the only way I got around it is I used a different Browser. Try my sugestion and use a different browser and see if it will work.
  9. I dont know if this will help but I had a dead Base station and I was given instructions on how to reset it. I will copy and paste what I was told to me. It fixed mine but read it very carefully and follow the instructions to the letter. Here is what I was told, And good luck Please note that you should only do this is your base station does not work at all. Although this should be harmless there is a non-zero chance that it could make things worse. First of all you will need to locate 2 files in SteamVR. Easiest way to locate this is right click SteamVR in your library, click Properties, Local Files, Browse Local Files. From there go to tools\lighthouse\firmware\lighthouse_tx\archive\htc_2.0 The 2 files we need are "lighthouse_tx_htc_2_0-calibration-rescue-244.bin" and "lighthouse_tx_htc_2_0-244-2016-03-12.bin" Step 1: With the base station un-powered, connect your station through Micro-B USB Cable to your PC Step 2: Hold down the mode button and plug in the power cable to the station Step 3: Once your PC has detected the station as a USB Mass Storage Device you can release the mode button Step 4: The station should be called "CRP_DISABLED" and contain one file "firmware.bin", delete that file Step 5: Copy over the file "lighthouse_tx_htc_2_0-calibration-rescue-244.bin" onto the drive Step 6: Once the file has copied over, pull out the power lead Step 7: Wait a few seconds and plug in the power again (DO NOT hold down the mode button this time) Step 8: Within a few seconds the base station should rapidly flash green or red. If it's green please skip to step 10. Step 9: If it is flashing red it means it could not be automatically fixed if so you will then need to contact VIVE directly for them to book the base station in for repair https://www.vive.com/support/ Step 10: Unplug the power cable again Step 11: Repeat steps 1 thru 7 but now instead copy the "lighthouse_tx_htc_2_0-244-2016-03-12" file instead Step 12: The base station should now be working again. Confirm it by setting it's mode to A and tracking with it alone (the other base turned off) After that you can either switch back the bases modes to A and B for cabled sync or B and C for wireless sync.
  10. That is sad. If you had an extra slot, all you would need is an adapter, Well, my guess is new motherboard or whole new computer. New motherboard would be cheaper. Just have to make sure processor and memory in your computer was compatable, Thats all. I feel bad for you, Good luck with what ever you decide to do.:smileyfrustrated:
  11. What type of empty slots do you have on your computer, You may just need an adapter. Some research could solve your problem.
  12. This is just fantastic, Thank you so much for the links and pointing me in the right direction. I live and breath CG graphics and can not seem to get enough of it. I am saving all the links you have posted and very curious about Unity. Sometimes this software can get very expensive, Vue is my most expensive software I own, I have several others like Poser Pro, Daz Studio, Hexagon and of course Adobe Photoshop. I can say I own the last version of Vue you could actually purchase before they changed company ownership and now lease it out with memberships. You can not just purchase it anymore so I feel lucky about that. I Considered 3D Max but your talking about several thousand dollars for that. My interest now is VR, Being a Newbee, I have a lot to learn. I do have the ability to make 360 degree animations. To be able to make VR worlds would be the ultimate Dream. Again, Thank you for your advise and tips, Smiles to you, :cathappy::manhappy::robothappy::smileyhappy:
  13. There is not a certain tutorial I was looking for, I just wanted to learn quickly. Before I was introduced to the VR world, I worked with computer art and animations as a hobbie and aquired some fantastic software for it. I learn so much from Tutorials and expermenting. Some of the software you may know of like the program Vue made by e-on software. Vue has been used in many, many movies you have seen such as Terminator, Dispicable Me, and so on. I like the idea of whole new worlds created in enviroments like VR. I will take your advice and just explore all the settings and see what is possible. This is just so much fun. I should have purchase a Vive long ago. I am a member of a number of Computer Art Communities and will spread the word. Who knows, I just might bring in some business for Vive, LOL. Oh if you ever get curious, Much of my computer art can be found at Photobucket under Mark Holloways (Lakotafeather) In the mean times, Im going to explore and enjoy, There is just so much to take in. Thank you
  14. Thank you, I put OVEDrop into my wish list after looking it over, It is a handy utility. The whole Vive experence has turned out to much more than expected. It can do more then I was aware of before my purchase. I spent a lot of money to build a computer with VR in mind. I did my research and decided on Vive. Best choice by far. I have a friend who also build a computer as powerful as mine and pretty close to what I have and we built them around the same time. I told her I had purchase Vive and I think she may be getting one too, I sent her links to show her examples of what it can do. What I can not find is a list of tutorials I can print out when it comes to settings and such. What came with the Vive was very limited, Pretty much basics as to how to set up. I purchased mine from the Vive company and not through a third party because I wanted to be sure it was absolute new equipment. Anyway, I thank you for your time showing me all the tips and tricks it can do. Im sure I will have more questions in the near future. Smiles to you :smileyhappy:
  15. Yes, Yes, Yes, It just keeps getting better and better. The more I learn about Vive, The surprises keep comming. I am so glad I made the choice to purchase Vive. Thank you for your Help. :smileyhappy::robothappy::manhappy::cathappy:
  16. Hello :smileyhappy: Im trying to figure out if you can view what is happening in Vive on your monitor while someone is using the Vive Headset. Is there a setting for this? The reason I ask is because I want to introduce a few friends to the VR World and while they are using the Headset, I would like to have some kind of idea what is going on. Is this possible? Is there a setting in the program that allows the monitor to display what is happening while the Headset is running? Any Feedback is most welcome.
