I would prefer to get the pack to turn it into an elite even if I need to return the faceplate and controllers of this model. Because the screen, headphones and headset quality are excellent. It's a really good product but the main problem is it uses light tracking, so if the ambient light is too clear it can't track the controllers, if too dark it can't recognize your environment and when the controllers are in line (one occulted by the other) the system can’t find it and lose track of it. The only I found to get a decent tracking is to use a warm light making my hite walls a yellow/orange color, but even like that on beat saber expert and expert+ it sometime can't keep track of some movements...

Yup. They can make a recall program for existing Cosmo user for a free upgrade to Elite by showing proof of purchase. If they make full refund for recall, they will lose many money. So I believe free upgrade to Elite can earn back customer loyalty and bring back a good image of their brand.

Thanks for this update, but I have a few points I would like to mention. First of all (I will talk again even though it looks boring) the updates are taking a long time to come out, this version took more than 1 month, and for the delay I would have liked to see an improvement in tracking, where everyone knows it is horrible, and that already make 8 MONTHS. I don't want to look boring but I'm talking as a consumer, can you focus on improving tracking? 8 MONTHS and it is still problematic, in that time there was some improvement but far from perfect. It is starting to look like you are not wanting to say that the product is defective and there is no way to improve more than that, because within these 8 months you have already had some updates and even a new headset. And the problem continues. Sorry the outburst is that it is really frustrating you buy a product that came with a problem and in 8 months it will not be solved, mainly coming from a company like valve.

Valve is a big company and HTC VR is not related to Valve. Valve has their own VR headset. Years ago, they were teammate, it is old story.

I also believe that the product is defective and will never have a 10/10 tracking score. Which is a shame, but I hope they improve to an 8/10 point
However, I believe that as they have improved a lot since launch, I think it can improve even more, they just need to focus on that problem.
However, taking a month for an update and having nothing to track is difficult to improve.
As I said before, the biggest problem (besides sniper mode) is tracking too close to the headset, far above and far below.
My impression is that when the headset completely loses the control light, it is completely lost, which explains many of the tracking problems.
High above = see only the bottom of the control
Far below = (hands down) = see also only the bottom of the control
Too close to the headset = he sees only one light and does not understand that it is the control.
Sniper mode = the rear control overlaps the front light and loses it.

So if there's anything really bad about the cosmos headset, it's the control and the way it was designed for the cameras to identify where they are. It would also explain why they returned to the elite cosmos for standard control.

If they go back and study the best way to get the headset to track the controller lighting, I believe they can improve tracking even further.
Well, I still believe in the valve (even very discouraged), but please take the time to improve tracking.
And try to release updates more quickly mainly focused on tracking, even with little improvement release the update so we can give feedback

I always said if it is Apple product, Apple would haven been issued worldwide recall on it.

Or if it is Bose, they should have been issued worldwide recall on it and they did it as Sleepbud fail to meet its feature.

Also, I am curious that my rifts s controller doesn't have any control light on the controller,  but why they can track so perfect ????

    So no improvements on tracking?

Deadly. They focus on patching those affecting its Elite version. But tracking issue for in out, I feel it is pretty deadly over as it should be design fault, can't fix at all. That why it takes 8 months and still no matching to rift s..........

Just my thoughts on this TRACKING issue:

PROS:  HTC staff did make a big dent with this update, that we all been on for far too long.  It's not RIFT S grade, but nice I must say.

CONS:  Tracking still gets stuck/paused when aiming in FPS with the COSMOS.  Also, as mentioned earlier we are in a pandemic.  However, HTC released a new product to market (COSMOS Elite + Faceplate add-on/up sale) during the pandemic.  The organization has remote/home office operations to communication, distribution, and all that good stuff to make revenue still.  Bottom line is we are still seeking answers and actions to make the initial investment of value.  It's not of value at the moment...

HTC has a team still updating the company website, sku#'s, payroll, etc.

Oculus last update was April 15 - Oculus is active and updating their consumers.

Oculus rift S is perfect with its tracking ability. I have using it on Half Life Alyx. The oculus rift s controller also has perfect feedback in vibration.

Cosmos is really bad in Alyx, when my two hand is overlapping each other, the tracking constanly just fail....WHY IT CONSTANTLY FAIL ???? If it is a product design faulty, please recall this product or give a option for free faceplate and sensor although I bought cosmos is because of its simplicity and better resolution and FOV than Rift S.

I'm having similiar issues. I've been using a Rift S for some time now. I purchased the Cosmos and wireless kit because I like the idea on getting rid of the boom stand I use for cable management. The Cosmos is a real disappointment so far. The controllers are heavy and clunky. I typically have to pull the triggers 3 or 4 times before the actually respond. The tracking is terrible, constantly losing track of my hand positions in a well lit room that was fine for a Rift. Comfort is also an issue as it feels heavier and overall just less comfortable than the Rift S. I really wanted to love this product, but I after 2 days of non-stop disappointment I am considering seeing if I can return it or perhapps just selling it on ebay. I haven't even bothered to install the wirless kit since it isn't even usable tethered.

Me too. But my country doesn't have return policy. All purchases are final. I won't buy any HTC product anymore as they don't have the core technology to make a functional product. What I feel now is that they keep on saying "We will have new firmware to improve it over time" but when ? It has been 7 months since launch. If they admit it is a design fault, they need to do recall worldwide.

Bose also do worldwide recall for its sleepbud because it is not a functional product.

ok i'm disappointed with the purchase. I thought for a long time which company to choose and finally I decided on HTC. I bought to play Alyx because I already have VR on PS4. I don't understand these problems with controller tracking. I have good lighting in the room, tracking the headset works perfectly. Controllers only work well if they are seen by two main cameras. If I lower my hands to the place where the bottom camera should catch them, they will immediately lose tracking. Are they able to fix it, or is it better to sell this "wonder" and move to cheaper competition? @stvnxu@C.T.

Honestly, you are not the only innocent. I can't bare its terrible hand tracking and I am waiting their fix or they need a recall program for this wonder product.

I just feel that their practical solution is to suggest you to buy faceplate and sensor which is failing concept. For me, I bought Cosmos is because of its simplicity, but it have been 7 months since its release. No real fix at all, just come minor fix every time. I think we will go through all those minor fix until this product has been outdated in the market.

Just let us know if it will be fixed or just give a big offer for all exisiting Cosmos owners. Though I don't want external sensor. But if it is the only solution, then just bare it.
