  1. Ok so replacement Vive Pro 2 just arrived via Fed EX. Couple of days early which was nice.

It definitely is a replacement - it came with a new cable, headphones and face gasket - the one I sent was bare with none of that. Plus it is a totally different serial number. Now to get it hooked up and test this puppy out.

  2. Well I emailed support back from my support ticket correspondence asking the question. Support advised me just to check the serial number when it arrives, if it is different it was a replacement, if same it was repaired.

So still not quite sure as the two serial numbers are so close together. But based on that and the very quick turnaround ( practically same day) I am going with it is likely a replacement and coincidence the serials are so close.  I will know for sure when it finally arrives on the 23rd. I just find it a little strange my support ticket did not reflect what was actually done - it would have been nice if it did.

  3. Just had another look at my correspondence from HTC. The email I got from support stating the device is preparing to be returned to me also included a serial number. Different from the serial number I had listed for the ticket - but close. Last four I had for the headset I sent them was 0523, last four listed on the return coming back to me is 0623.  All other numbers identical. So could be a different headset, or could be just a typo and same headset.

In other words I still have no idea LOL.

  4. I have just a hunch they have sent me a replacement unit. In the " In Repair" status it just shows as " Packing". Then it shows it shipped out yesterday.

Of course I will know for sure when I get it back here on Tuesday. Whatever they did I just hope it is a working unit. Thankfully I have a Reverb G2 and Index I can use in the meantime but I am certainly missing that Vive Pro 2. 1 day turn around but overall total of 14 days for shipping to and back.

Mine came back with the cable from the HMD to link box attached which I did not send with it. I then checked the serial number on the HMD and it was a newer version by about a month.

Perhaps I will find the same, it was strange as it never showed me being in repair - just received and shipped right back out. Yeah they asked me to only send headset also, no cable or link box sent. Guess I will find out on Tuesday.

My wait at the repair center was less than 2 days before it was sent back to me. It was replaced and not repaired so will have to see what they did for you. The trip back was as slow as the trip there.

Well mine shipped back out to me today. Says it will be delivered on the 23rd. Repair ticket tells me absolutely nothing. Said they received it, and shipped it back out. That is all it says.

Says nothing about being repaired or replaced so guess I am in the dark on that one. Guess I will find out when it gets back to me on the 23rd.

That sounds like how mine got there and looked like it was ground all the way. I guess that is the price of free shipping.

Yeah I guess so. And to correct I apparently forgot how to do math, it is 8 days rather than the 10 I stated. But still , dang.

I have a Virpil CM3 Throttle I bought to use with my flight sims. It needed some warranty work, so they arrange to have it sent back to their service center overseas in Belarus, and they arranged all the shipping. It got to them quicker than this shipment going to Seattle. In fact they had already fixed it and it was already shipped on the way back to me in about that same amount of time.

In any event, here is to hoping things get moving with it soon. And I sincerely hope I get it back in great working order.

  8. Just checked tracking again, showing my returned Vive Pro 2 should be delivered to HTC in Seattle on Monday. It was sent via Fed Ex by arrangement of HTC - last Monday. That is 10 days for it to get from the east coast to Seattle which sounds a bit ridiculous to me via Fed Ex. I mean they have airplanes right lol.

Oh well maybe I will start seeing some action on it next week, hoping anyways.

If the repair center is in seattle I wouldn't worry at all. I'm pretty they'll do a good job testing and repair/replace your headset.

If you had to send to romania tho I would worry for you as they seem to be 3rd party service with really clumsy/junky looking repair center.

I'm not only saying it because of that, but mostly because of what happened to me and many others with the romania repair center at ctdi electronics, even in the report they struggle with english and nothing makes sense on paper, scary thing. But I wouldn't worry if my headset were sent to seattle, I'm pretty sure they'll atleast test your headset after repair and not just doing things tacky.

Thanks - yeah it is going to Seattle so hopefully things will go well. I was hoping to get it shipped out today but have come down with a bad head cold, may be tomorrow before I can get it on the way.

I find it interesting how different the experience for us in the states is.

I had a green vertical line in my right screen and after a few hours of support chat got a RMA and free FedEx shipping label. I was told it would be repaired but in the end they replaced it. I only sent the HMD back with no cables but my replacement had the cable from the HMD to the link box attached. Mine also went to the repair center in Seattle Washington.

Hope you get the same experience I did for which I am very happy.

Thanks yeah me too. My fear is if I send headset only and the issue was really with the cable or even Link box and they find nothing wrong.

Hopefully I hear back from support on this question soon as I have the shipping label now and would like to get this sent on back asap. My gut tells me I should send it all back but want to wait for confirmation from them.

  11. And also maybe I should send Link Box as well with the cable ? Just seems to not make sense not to include the cable and Link box in case one of those might be the culprit with my headset?

I did receive the RMA with Fed EX shipping label, I am in the states and thankfully it is going here to WA.

I emailed support back asking about sending the cable and Link box along with the headset.

  12. Ok so after a couple of more back and forths earlier today I have heard back from another HTC Support person asking for some info to process the return for them to inspect and do whatever I guess. Have sent them the info and will proceed with the return once I have the necessary info back from them.

I will say after reading some reports of others experience on these forums I am wondering how mine is going to go. It is not a cheap headset and needs to just work. I have owned several VR headsets since I first got into it in Jan 2017 and this is the first one I have had any issue with.

In the meantime I am having great fun with my games with the Index. I do hope they get me sorted on the Vive Pro 2. When it is working it is a very nice headset.

  13. Now have heard from a different support person, asking me to uninstall and reinstall Steam VR and Vive Console.

I advised I already tried that on three separate occasions with same results. And reminded with the same Steam software my Index runs great with no issues at all and same tracking system. IMHO problem lies with either the headset or the cable. I am willing to try anything they ask me to rule everything else out but I have already been down this road too many times over the last couple of weeks trying to troubleshoot this.

  14. Ok so I have now heard back from support. Lots of things they want me to check and respond to which I will do. Many I have already done except I guess creating some logs they have asked for.  Index still running beautifully so pretty sure can rule out my Lighthouse 2.0 tracking being the problem.

Also to double check I turned the Index off and turned the Vive Pro 2 back on, stuttering and shaking returned. Back to Index, all good again.
