  1. I think I can safely say every headset does not have that issue.

I have had mine since June 11th and have many hours in with it - I use it pretty much daily mostly in flight sims. So far so good on my end, but I do keep fingers crossed. I did do a play through with Half Life Alyx and Medal of Honor Above and Beyond with it as well.

I hope for you that are having the issue HTC does right by you and gets your units replaced.

I would note I can not say on the audio buzz as I do not use the VP2 audio. I prefer earbuds through my Creative sound. But visually I am not having any issue so far.

I'm still the same person, The website is glitchy and I can't sign in with steam anymore.

So I'm returning the headset this thursday, so you'll know what to do, I guess someone has to do it ? I really hope it's not a spread disease tho.

I just noticed by closing my right eye that the left panel is worse than the right one and the right panel it's almost invisible.... So .. it really feels like a hardware failure. Dudes it's an 800€ headset.

I do support the HTC team, But if I get another broken headset I might just get a refund and not recommending the headset anymore as I'm going to make a youtube video about it when I'll get my hands on the replacement so guys stay tuned ^^

My headset came with twisted cables, I feel like I got a headset which had a previous RMA.... err

Hmm yeah that last sentence - not so good. Hopefully your replacement will be a nice new headset.

For me, the original Console I was directed to worked fully only once.  First time allowed me to choose settings. thereafter the Console appeared as a blank grey window.  A query here in the forum resulted in my being directed to Steam for that version.

The Console has worked normally since, but I don't like the way it blacks out one of my monitors for a moment every time it starts and stops.

Yeah it blacks out one of my monitors momentarily as well. Same thing my Reverb G2 and Rift S did as well though.

  4. Ah ok thanks then. It is not so bad that it really annoys me, just something I notice from time to time toward the outer edges in certain lighting conditions.

Just wanted to make sure it was nothing wrong on my end with the headset. Thanks for the feedback. Headset it still doing great for me.

  5. I have been loving my Vive Pro 2 for the last several days, many hours in it now.

Something I seem to be noticing a little more, depending on lighting I think, are the concentric rings along the outer perimeters of the lenses. Seems to depend on how light hits it, or rather maybe it is the way darkness hits it, when they start to show up. Can't remember ever seeing this in a previous headset. I seemed to notice it more in DCS today flying around.

Is this a normal thing for the Vive Pro 2 due to the lenses used? This is the only thing I have seen that bothers me a little every now and then, other than that it is a great headset for me so far. Does everyone see this in their Vive Pro 2?

  6. I have been running my new Vive Pro 2 quite hard since getting it about a week and a half ago. So far everything with it is working great. I have been gaming with it several hours each day.

One observation: When I first apply the power to the headset,  it has a red light on the side. Then when I connect via Vive Console, that light turns green. Ok so I am thinking maybe that red light signifies a stand by condition, then when I connect via the console it turns green to reflect operating condition.

However, when I am done with a gaming session and disconnect the Vive Console, the light does not go back to red but stays green. Is this the way it is supposed to be, or should it be turning red when disconnecting from Vive Console to signify it has gone back into a stand by mode?

I am just curious on this. I make a practice after each use to power it down via the Link box to be safe. But was wondering about the light and what it signifies whilst it is connected.

My solution was to run in 120hz mode and then turn off Motion Compensation. No more horrible artefacts and the higher refresh rate means the dropped frames are less noticeable in general.

As a test I tried Elite Dangerous Odyssey (yes Odyssey - the known GPU/CPU hog version!). With motion compensation on at native resolution @ 90hz it was horrible with noticeable warping going on especially in menus etc. Switch to native resolution @120hz with motion compensation off and it is significantly better - no warping artefacts and even though re-projection is occurring due to the higher refresh rate it isn't really noticeable unless you drop to sub 60 fps for an extended period.

I would imagine that running with no motion compensation is also slightly more efficient as there is no extra processing or frame prediction going on - might just get you the extra 1ms or 2 so that the frame makes it to the headset in time.

I have found the same with my flight sims - motion compensation off but running at 90 Hz. As long as I can maintain the 45 fps it gives me a pretty good experience.

Better than with Motion Compensation on for sure on my end.

I've not had the display break on me for nearly a week now. It must have been the link box being left on standby mode on the 1st night and not realising it. I've been turning the box off religously just to be sure it doesn't happen again. There has been a couple of version updates since.

The low humming sound seems to be quieter, almost gone. I do hear it if I listen hard for it. Seems better with the latest updates. I've opted into SteamVR BETA and Vive Console BETA.

I think, maybe...crossing fingers the 2 glaring QC issues might be fixed/much better.

Could be. I have had my Vive Pro 2 for one week now, using it daily around 3-5 hours a day. I have not had an issue yet, I do make sure I turn the Link box off when not gaming.

    Thanks for the reply C.T.

I think steam VR motion smoothing is the number 1 requested feature!

    Please please please 😃

    Yes this!

Steam VR Motion Smoothing is so much better than HTC Motion Compensation. I had to turn it off for my Vive Pro 2.

I had much better results for motion compensation/smoothing with my Reverb G2 and Steam Motion Smoothing.

  10. Yeah this is really not looking good for HTC.

Pre-ordered on May 13th. Money was taken from my account the same day. Never got an estimated delivery date. Been just showing waiting for fulfillment since early Friday, whatever the heck that means. In mean time I see more and more on the forums receiving their headsets.

One would think by pre-ordering we might be the first to get them. Guess they just wanted the money.
