Black screen while streaming PC VR games (Overheating)

I have had this problem for at least the past three weeks.
It happens when I play for about 30 minutes and then turn on passthrough to grab a drink.
I can unplug and replug the battery to turn it back on.
At first, I thought it was because I'm using an 18W battery pack with glasses mode, and perhaps the battery is not outputting enough power.
But today I finally found out what happens. I saw an overheating warning popup.
And I couldn't turn it back on by unplugging and replugging the battery. So here I am, opening this thread.
I can hear the fan spinning and feel the heat coming out. But I don't think the fan is running anywhere near its maximum speed.
It seems like the situation has been getting worse recently.

I checked with Tech Support before buying and was told that my laptop's Thunderbolt 3 port which supplies 18W would be OK. It was only later that they started talking about 30W.

To be fair I have not experienced any problems in streaming.

Update: 

Today, I discovered that my battery has completely drained.
However, I'm still experiencing a black screen issue even when my battery level is at 80%.
