Irk26
Geisel, I just went to vive.com, clicked the "Contact Us" link at the top of the page, then clicked the "Start Chat" button on the following page that came up. Hope it works for you, too. The tech support people, there, were great.
Synthesis
Ah so it ended up being the linkbox in your case. They should be able to replace your linkbox for you if you contact them. Did you do that already? Irk26 has it right. You can reach them at www.vive.com/us/support/contactusOf course, change the "us" part to your appropriate country or just navigate to the site as Irk26 suggested.I can also continue to assist here if you prefer. Thanks, -John C

HackPerception
- Sorry your response came in without much context. Are you also having issues with your display powering on or is it limited to the audio device not initializing?
mikekana
Hello After updating my controllers my HMD will not turn on. I checked USB and Hub controller is the only item that is greyed out. What can I do?
Synthesis
Try this: Unplug all Link Box cables from your PC. From your host computer, go to SteamVR > Settings > Developer. Make sure the Developer Settings checkbox is checked. Click on Remove all SteamVR USB Devices. Make sure the link box's USB cable is not plugged in and click Yes. Once this is complete, quit SteamVR, plug your link box in (USB, HDMI, Power), and re-launch SteamVR. Thanks, -John C
mikekana
Thanks John, I resolved it yesterday. The problem was that the cable that is covered by the latch on the headset was not in properly. I removed the latch and pushed it in and it started working. Thank you for your help! Have a great evening. Best regards Mike

KillRoyNow
Started out great fun to play. About a week and a half past the return date the vive stopped working. We did all the trouble shooting on steam and htc's sites nothing helped. Contacted HTC Tec support they gave a few others to try but they didn't work. Sent the head set in for repair. HTC is telling me to pay $270.00 for the repair. they say its water damaged. How can you make something that gets strapped to your body (head) and not make it water (sweat) proof. I own watches and phones that are water proof. And for the head set not to be is a manufacturer flaw. Also HTC changed the wording of their warrantee from does not cover water damage other than perspiration to does not cover water damage. So now I'll have to contact a lawyer , BBB and consumer protection agency
marsi0574
Dont know if you have as bad luck as i had. I had almost the exact same problem, HDM completely dead and light was red. I tried pretty much everything, Uninstalling all the drivers and software, reinstalled win10, changed the cables to a pair that i know is working, change from wireless to link box, Also tried bypassing HDMI and USB from link box and only had power from link box. Change to a different computer that is my main and had the same problem. After about 48h of fail searching i dismounted and took apart the whole headset and found that a cable inside the vive was the fault, is had been bent and finally with time and rapid head turns while playing the cable had snapped and was completely cut of. This can not be any other than a assembly fauly since you need to unscrew 10 screws to even get down to the chip where the cables are. So long story short, The headsets display was broke since it no longer had any contact with the power supply. I will need to take this on my home insurance since i hade the HTC Vive for about 1,5 years already and this happen to me yesterday (2019-06-07) So will se if i can get a new one on the insurance. Hope this helps some poor chap with the same problem to narrow down there fail searching.
