MainFragger
If I had long enough USB cables, would the Vive controller work directly to the usb connection like a mouse or controller?
Rockjaw
Yes, should do. If you connect with the USB cable for some reason (eg to charge, or diagnose an issue) they work. They'd need to be long cables though, and you'd be adding two more cables you'd need to avoid while using the Vive!
MainFragger
I got the cables. The controller charges..but it doesn't seem to actually act as a mouse.. Furthermore, I've tried it with an xbox360 controller emulator, and the controllers are not detected. I'll keep working on it..
Rockjaw
Hmm. Just to be clear, when plugged in the Vive controllers should work as they would do when they're not plugged in - ie as controllers in VR. They can be quasi-mice, in that you can control your mouse pointer via virtual desktop in VR... are they not working at all for you? I've certainly plugged in my controllers and had them work (albeit, on a short leash!) in VR before.
MainFragger
I was hoping that if they were plugged into USB, they would act as a Windows mouse. Not a VR mouse. My hope was, if I can get it that far, I might be able to use an xbox360 emulator software that I found to use it with games that run in Theater Mode.
