HMD Firmware update stuck

Alter Rem

Recommended Posts

Hi there!

I'm having some problems with headset update. When I see the "!" icon on the headset, I tap on "update firmware" option. So the update starts but never ends.

I tried to change the cables but still get stuck. How can I update or, at least, don't let it to update? When it happens, the trackers and the headset shut down and I have to restart the whole game. So I'd like to have a solution.

Thanks for all the help!  Best Regards.

Done

As you can see, there is no differences (just the "Done" in the end") but time needed by the second one was like 40 seconds. The first one enters in a neverending update.

@Alter Rem - The SteamVR compositor/runtime can get into similar sounding infinite update loops where it reports that an update is required and may even try to preform the update but only pushes the same firmware image. We haven't published a major firmware update for Pro in quite some time - pretty much all of the functionality changes have been occurring at the SteamVR runtime level.

You can verify the firmware version on the headset is via C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SteamVR\tools\lighthouse\bin\win32\lighthouse_console.exe. If it's a weird SteamVR related bug, that number will remain static even if the updater executes an update. What numbers do you see here for firmware version and the watchman FPGA date?

(this is a shot for Vive Pro Eye but I believe the number is the same for standard Pro)

Hi  @VibrantNebula! Thanks fot your answer.

We finally achieve to update it (after waiting for a long time...) but... The problem is that we are in an update loop :(. The headsets are requesting an update constantly.

I'll send you below the info of our 3 headset.

This one looks good, I mean, we are not in trouble with this headset (for the moment)

But the two next ones are failing and requesting for updates constantly:

Let' see if you can see something weird here.

Thank you!!
