Looks like a great update! You mentioned in the other post that the update too for the client needs to be applied through the console via USB. Is that going to be the new normal now, or is that strictly a one-time thing due to it being a larger change?

Also I'm just curious, my setup is about as ideal as one could imagine now minus possibly me having a beefier graphics card (I'm on a RTX 2080.)  If you had a solid 2500 Mbps Wifi 6E connection in the same room, would you personally set the VBS settings to 200 Mbps and "Quality" stream settings, or would you leave things at "Auto" and just let things shift dynamically? I'm trying to get to the point where I never have used a wired connection again with equal quality. 🙂

We wanted to provide more updates on beta before it hits to public, due to the restriction on Vive Business App Store we had to open up this update method.
I always set to 200Mbps and enable dynamic bitrates with Quality setting. PC wired to router, Focus 3 line of sight to router. This gives me solid and stable performance outputs, see if this helps.

Hah that's almost exactly the settings I used last night! 🙂 Except for the Dynamic Bitrates, I'll have to try that. I had probably the BEST session of Racket NX I've had in long while, everything really looked and played great.

Just a heads up on a potential issue with this release. Yesterday and today, so 5 or 6 times total, I've gone into the settings for VBS, changed the Streaming graphics preferences, Sharpening, Streaming bitrate, and Dynamic then restarted the app. The Sharpening and Streaming bitrate settings changed from what I had just entered. I just reset them again, re-opened and this time the Sharpening was all the way down. Something confusing is going on.

Wait...idea! Does enabling "Dynamic bitrate" disable the streaming bitrate and Sharpening settings somehow? If so that might need some clarification (or graying out the bitrate slider completely when dynamic is enabled?) Either way the settings are seeming erratic right now from the user point of view. Performance has been very good overall though.

Edit: Nope, just tried tweaking things a bit more, and even with Dynamic Bitrate disabled, then closing everything and restarting VBS, the streaming bitrate setting is all the way back down to 20 Mbps again (at the bottom.)  So something is not right with this.

WOW! I didn't think I would see this kind of clarity in a wireless headset until I would get my hands on some kind of wigig 2 based product in the future. I'm honestly quite shocked how much this recent update closed the gap between my Focus 3 and my Reverb G2. I'm noticing details I didn't spot before and the quality of life is just overall better. I appreciate that the max brightness in VBS is also increased.

I'm not exaggerating, it feels like what I would expect if the Focus 3 had a wigig accessory.

The USB VBS update was a little bit inconvenient but the improvement in quality was definitely worth it.

With all that said, I also had the issue with 20mbps getting set on its own and then stuck there, it didn't clear until I completely reset my computer. But hey, if this is what a BETA version can do, then I'm really looking forward to VBS in the long run.

Any tips for installing the Focus 3 client? On my system, clicking the install button claims I'm not connected to USB, yet the plug icon shows it is connected and I can even run up my existing VBS client over the connection.

Tried a whole bunch of things but nothing works.

I'm using Windows 11 with no specialist security software, other than the default that comes with the OS.

So, I figured out a slight workaround for the 'stuck at 20mbps' issue.

When I open VBS and I can't increase the slider from 20mbps, what I did was, I click on the smaller VBS window, the one that says Standing by and then VBS server, xxx.xxx.xxx.xx and then I click alt/f4.

When I open VBS again and go into settings, I can increase the streaming bitrate again.

Ok, I sorted it out. In my case I had to go into the headset and set its USB setting to 'Compatibility Mode' which is odd given that VBS is working 🙂 But it has done the trick 🙂

Streaming quality appears to be all over the place with this update. It feels like it's aggressively trying to maintain a latency target that's unrealistic for Wifi 6 (it might work better if you're on 6E or USB). I experienced a lot of artifacting and it regularly dropped down to unplayable levels of graphical fidelity. Not sure why, because with the previous version I had great image quality, manageable latency and very few dropouts (and if they occurred, it was only brief). I've only tested with dynamic bitrate on, will try later if disabling this makes a difference.
