  1. Does VBS or the Focus 3 itself have any kind of event log feature that makes notes of drop outs that could give details as to why this keeps happening?
  2. "tends to happen once after ~10 mins of stream time and then work fine from that point" I have also experienced this! But yeah, I suspect it might be tracking issues. I would try changing my room but I'm actually moving very soon, so I'll just go ahead and see if things are different in my new VR space in a few weeks. I did try turning my lights all the way up and that seems to help.
  3. So, I don't think it's a DFS sweep cause according to the link I am using what, in the United States, is a non-DFS channel (a 40mhz channel centered on 48) I'll investigate the tracking issue next. https://www.aami.org/medical-device-connectivity/medical-device-connectivity-faqs-standards-802-11#:~:text=For the U.S.%2C there are,and 5.73 GHz frequency range.
  4. Thank you for your insights! Do you know of a good way to check for DFS sweeps? Either way, thank you for the lead, I'm moving soon but I do actually live quite close by to a naval station so this could be the culprit and would explain the otherwise seeming randomness of the drop outs. As for tracking, moving soon so my new space will be much better but yeah, my current room is small and a bit cluttered and not optimally lit, I know that when I experimented with hand track, the hand tracking really struggled when I faced certain directions in my room vs others. I always use SteamVR with a center and directional marker so I'm going to pay attention to which direction I'm facing when the drop outs happen and see if I can spot a pattern.
  5. So, I'm attempting to diagnose why in seemingly every SteamVR app/game I try in VBS I get in the span of a couple of hours several VERY BAD drop outs. I was able to confirm that I seem to have plenty of CPU and GPU headroom, good frametimes in SteamVR, according to wifi commander there appears to be no wifi interference in the router's fixed channel, and yet, randomly, I will get these intense drops where it almost always goes like, first the screen goes black except for the VBS loading animation for about 3-4 seconds, then steamVR seems to come back for two seconds but I don't have any control and it's like the camera is slowly floating and the image doesn't line up with the screens, and then another two to five seconds of VBS loading logo and then finally I'm back. Tonight, this happened at least 7 or 8 times in two hours. What should I be looking at as the issue? Windows 10 RTX 4090 ASUS - RT-AX86S AX5700 Vive Focus 3
  6. "Fixed a bug that prevented the headset from charging the controllers via the right-hand USB port while in sleep mode." THANK YOU!
  7. I'm not so sure if I would recommend it in late 2022, how does the Pico 4 compare to the Focus 3? I love my Focus 3 but it does have one shortcoming which is the lenses, which could've been a lot better imo, meanwhile the Pico 4, which almost looks like a Focus 3 copy, has pancake lenses.
  8. I have some apps that I'm trying to use in SteamVR where the hand isn't lining up with the expected angle relative to the controller. It's only off by 5-10 degrees, is there a VBS setting somewhere that I can tweak to adjust it? Perhaps in serverSetting?
  9. Wait, there is definitely a bug with the usb charging now, I don't think it's related to compatibility mode. It used to be that I could turn on the focus 3, put it off to one side with the controllers connected via the y charging cable, and then walk away, the focus 3 would keep charging even when it went into 'sleep mode' (no display or sound, just the white indicator light on the front slowly going on and off) I just looked at it and now when it goes into sleep mode, the controllers stop getting charged.
  10. I think this might be a slight bug but I found that I wasn't able to use the USB C port on the side of the headset to charge my controllers until after I turned on usb compatibility mode. I didn't need to do that before this update.
  11. I mean, just going off my own experience with 3d animation and programming, to get the hand in steamvr apps to line up with the real world hand, all HTC would need to do would be to just rotate the emulated controller about 90 degrees and then maybe translate the 'wrist' point a little, they do that and I think it would be very usable as is. The problem seems to all steam from the fact that HTC programmed the palm facing down to be the same thing as holding the emulated focus 3 controller upright.
  12. So far properly experiencing Boneworks in the Focus 3 for the first time, it's been everything I've expected and more.
  13. So far I've only tried hand tracking in VBS with steamvr home, half life alyx, and Compound (a unity application) Hand tracking works great with Compound, which it's my understanding that HTC prioritizes unity apps for the Focus 3 so that makes sense. But Steamvr home and Half Life Alyx's hand tracking is a mess, the hand in both apps is 90 degrees off axes (if your left palm faces the floor in real life, in the app it will face to your right). So, I got to ask, is this a known issue? Is there a fix? Does HTC even plan on fixing it or is it only going to focus on Unity?
  14. I'm a little annoyed that HTC's website essentially sent me in a big circle, I ended up finding an international website that had the trackers in stock and ordered it there. I look forward to trying it out cause the hand tracking is amazing and immersive when the Focus 3 doesn't lose tracking. If the wrist tracker makes hand tracking as super reliable as regular controller tracking, that'll be really powerful.
  15. I tried that, filled out the form, and all that happened was I got an automated email with a link to the form I filled out.
  16. I just tried in the latest public release a combination of left hand tracking and right controller tracking and it worked well enough for me to see the potential but not well enough for anything fast paced. I could try to optimize the lighting in my room but I can definitely tell that the Focus 3 struggles to see my hand relative to parts of my walls. I can see why a wrist tracker would be the best of both worlds solution in this case. But to put it simply, if I'm in the US, how do I actually buy it?
  17. Is 1.08.8 Beta and 1.08.8 public basically the exact same software?
  18. So, in VBS preference I saw that I needed to turn on 'Hand tracking' 'Hand and controller at the same time' So that's a start but when I load up Half Life Alyx, immediately what I notice is that in the 3d engine the location and orientation of Alyx's hand-tracked hand is quite far removed from my actual hand. Basically the hand is inside the end of my forearm and it's rotated about 90 degrees off axis (my real world palm can face away from me while Alyx's palm will face towards the right of me.) It does the same thing in the steamvr 'mountain house' so I guess this isn't just an Alyx issue. Is this a known problem?
  19. I'm curious about the state of hand tracking in VBS right now, I read that it's possible to play Half Life Alyx one handed and that makes a lot of sense to me as someone who never ever rotates using the joystick (one of the reasons I bought a wireless headset was so that I could freely rotate without cord tangling). I would only need one joystick for locomotion. Is it currently possible to have hand tracking with the off hand and controller tracking with the right hand (in my case, my dominant hand) in VBS/Half Life Alyx?
  20. So, it might sound like a small thing but especially when I'm in a hurry to turn off my VR rig, needing to hold down the power button for five seconds, including the delay in the front LED's reaction (you hold the power button for five seconds when turning off and then after another two seconds the front LED finally reacts) is kind of disruptive. I don't know if this can be done with a firmware update but what if pushing the power button on the battery twice or three times really quickly would turn it on and off instead?
  21. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but abxy don't have capacitive sensors, trigger and thumbsticks have capacitive sensors and VBS does support them and I have used them in VBS apps.
  22. The updates have been great but when are wireless updates for the client coming back? It is a bit inconvenient for users who don't have a good place to put down the Focus 3 within reach of the computer and so have to hold it up.
  23. It seems fine now, apparently the Focus 3 is intolerant of me opening the blinds on my window. Odd.
