  1. "Does redoing the tracking space correct the problem?" Yes, like I said, if I reset the boundary and then while doing that, turn my head either way 90 degrees, it does some loading and then everything is fine afterwards. "Do other spaces have the same issue?" I don't know, I'll try it when I have access to some other spaces.
  2. New problem came about today, When I turn on the Focus 3, the in-headset world is slanted and glitchy. By slanted I literally mean, the whole world is not level, it's as if it's tilted 30 degrees to one side and controller tracking is jumping around and head tracking is jumping around. I'm not sure if it's a hardware problem just because I seem to be able to correct the behavior by resetting the boundary and then as I'm resetting the boundary, I turn my head either way at which point the headset will go through a bit of loading and then everything is behaving like it should. What would be the issue?
  3. Just wanted to say, another great update, huge leaps in visual clarity this past month. I did feel that VBS was a bit too aggressive lowering the dynamic bitrate considering I have the router in the same room but now everything just seems better.
  4. Huh, well then that's really weird that the Focus 3 emulates the Cosmos controllers but Boneworks doesn't work with it. Oh well.
  5. Vive Cosmos has a history of Boneworks not working well with the controllers, then stress level zero patched Boneworks and if the users were careful to make sure that everything was binded, all the buttons, joysticks, triggers, and grips would work. But then Boneworks and SteamVR got patched since then. Can anyone currently owning a Vive Cosmos confirm if Boneworks currently works with the controllers?
  6. I looked into it further and saw that about two years ago people with Vive Cosmos, the controllers of which the Focus 3 is programmed to emulate, had the same exact issue that Focus 3 users have now, Boneworks tracks the hands and the head but the joysticks, grip, trigger, and buttons do nothing. Apparently then Boneworks got patched and a Vive Cosmos user made sure that every single control at the time was assigned because if even one command in the SteamVR interface wasn't binded, it wouldn't work. This was two years ago and Boneworks got patched since then which begs the question... Does anyone currently own a Vive Cosmos and have they tried to use Boneworks V. 1.6 with it? Have they been able to get it to work today?
  7. So, I figured out a slight workaround for the 'stuck at 20mbps' issue. When I open VBS and I can't increase the slider from 20mbps, what I did was, I click on the smaller VBS window, the one that says Standing by and then VBS server, xxx.xxx.xxx.xx and then I click alt/f4. When I open VBS again and go into settings, I can increase the streaming bitrate again.
  8. WOW! I didn't think I would see this kind of clarity in a wireless headset until I would get my hands on some kind of wigig 2 based product in the future. I'm honestly quite shocked how much this recent update closed the gap between my Focus 3 and my Reverb G2. I'm noticing details I didn't spot before and the quality of life is just overall better. I appreciate that the max brightness in VBS is also increased. I'm not exaggerating, it feels like what I would expect if the Focus 3 had a wigig accessory. The USB VBS update was a little bit inconvenient but the improvement in quality was definitely worth it. With all that said, I also had the issue with 20mbps getting set on its own and then stuck there, it didn't clear until I completely reset my computer. But hey, if this is what a BETA version can do, then I'm really looking forward to VBS in the long run.
  9. What is button touch parking with regards to capacitive touch?
  10. I seem to maybe have partially answered my own question, which is that the main way people use vive trackers as a mocap source is by going into unreal engine via steamVR, so, if I understand it correctly, the Focus 3 would also send coordinates into SteamVR, just down a different path (Vive tracker via dongle while focus 3 via router then VBS). Does that sound about right? I don't own vive trackers or any related equipment yet but I suppose I could try to do mocap with just the Focus 3 which I already have, obviously. I'll report back what I find out.
  11. I'm considering building a mocap rig out of 3 vive tracker 3's and a base station (or 2), and I was wondering does there exist the possibility to, in such a rig, also output data from the head via the headset tracking and the hands via the hand controller tracking (or even better, use the hand and finger tracking inside of the headset?)
  12. If you want to use the Focus 3 seated without running out of battery, all you have to do is just run an extension cord from your outlet of choice and then plug the provided power supply directly into the battery and voila, the Focus 3 will run indefinitely.
  13. HTC, I have a crazy suggestion, but please hear me out... What if VBS had an Oculus Quest 2 controller emulation mode? I don't know how complicated it would be to program something like this but pretty much every steamvr game supports Oculus Quest 2 and so if there was a relatively simple way for SteamVR to just interpret all the joystick, button, trigger, and grip messages as the same messages from the Quest 2 controllers, which it seems like that could be pretty 1 to 1, this way you could guarantee compatibility pretty much forever.
  14. Exactly, I mean, maybe things will be different a year from now, but with the chip shortages... who knows, but right now, there's really no other headset on the market that does everything that Focus 3 does in such a streamlined package. Oculus Quest 2/Pico Neo 3 (they're basically the same headset)? Inferior displays, sound, and build quality. Vive Pro 2 with Wigig adapter? Requires base stations, battery isn't built into the headset but has to be worn, vive pro 2 + wigig adapter + base stations are altogether more expensive than a Focus 3. I've looked high and low and yeah, for SteamVR, the Focus 3 really just is the best solution right now, there's nothing else like it.
  15. Shout out to HTC for their warranty support, I sent in my defective controller last Friday and the replacement was already here Thursday early afternoon.
  16. Can also confirm, the overall streaming experience is more stable and smooth.
  17. Stress Level Zero's next game was just announced to be coming out later this year, so hopefully the Focus 3 will be tested and supported for Bonelab and they'll extend that support to Boneworks. I really feel a game like Boneworks is meant to be experienced wirelessly, the main character even puts on a wireless headset in the intro.
  18. Summer is coming and it's starting to get really humid, just as an option, is it possible to increase the fan speed?
  19. I consider this a disadvantage, the lack of active cooling gives the Quest 2 a reputation as feeling like the user has a 'toaster' strapped to their face. Also, I like how the fan in the Focus 3 dehumidifies the area between the face and the lens. Every time I use my Reverb G2 I'm shocked at how quickly my lenses fog up.
  20. Fair enough, it's just the most recent update is so good that I now use the Focus 3 every day, so it'll be a bummer to have to go without it for however long it takes for the controller to ship to Seattle and back.
  21. I actually talked to HTC support about a week ago, my ticket number is 222168840000180 , I've been waiting for a good time to send the left controller where I won't need the headset as much. Is it at all possible that they could send me the replacement Left controller first and then I send them the defective left controller?
  22. Just checked, if the Focus 3 is off, the light is briefly blue and then it stays orange, If the Focus 3 is on, same, briefly blue and then it stays orange, I never see a green light. The weird thing is, the controller is actually completely usable, except for the fact that the Focus 3 in the lobby shows it charging and as always 4 dots, I can never actually see how much charge is left, but yes, I used the left controller for over 5 hours today.
  23. The panels in the Vive Focus 3 are WAY BETTER. This was a big part for me, I have extremely good eye sight and so it's nice to have panels that feel very 'full' even if I can still make out the pixels on flat backgrounds I wouldn't call it a 'screen door effect' because I don't perceive it like I can see between the pixels, per se. Also, it is an EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE headset which goes a long way if you are going to use it for a context of a lot of movement. Finally, this is more of a user specific scenario but WIFI 6E, Focus 3 can do it, Quest 2 can't.
  24. OH! Ok, that button combination did get the LED to turn off, which I assume solves the biggest problem which is that the left controller is slightly discharging when not in use and always running out of power. Unfortunately it did not solve the issue regarding that when I do turn on the controller, it still shows it as 'charging' even when it's unplugged and in use. Also, weirdly, I tried the controller firmware update tool for windows and directly plugging in the controller via USB C, my right controller works fine with the app but when I plug in the left controller to my computer I get a notice that the device is not recognized.
  25. I see, so even if I was using a Wifi 6E router and could reliably transmit a much higher bit rate there is a bottleneck at the video card or the qualcomm xr2?
