  1. Check the cables first. Reseat everything. Bypass the linkbox. Check and make sure you're getting power to the HMD (green or red light on the side) Once that's done, let me know what happened. Thank you, -John C
  2. Hi Patrick, a couple of things before I respond in full. 1. Please don't make multiple posts when a single post will do. It's unnecessary and it clutters up the forum. 2. Please do show respect towards our staff. There is no call to refer to as "amateurish" or direct sarcastic comments towards him. I don't claim to be an expert in electrical engineering, but from what I understand, Thunderbolt 3 requires the ports be compatible to the TB3 standard. In otherwords, you can use DisplayPort cables into a TB3 port, but not necessarily the other way around. Perhaps I'm mistaken, if you have some literature from Intel that woud bring more definitive clarity to this scenario, I would be interested in reading it. However, I don't necessarily think that's the issue. As you say, you're able to get your desktop to display on your HMD, so obviously display data is being transferred. I'm curious if you're getting any error messages in SteamVR or if you've enabled Direct Mode yet. If you can, create a System Report from SteamVR for me, upload it to pastebin and PM me with the link. As far as the GPU goes, is technically correct. The GTX 1060 Mobile Max-Q (Even with 6GB VRAM) underperforms (By between 10-15%) the bare minimum requirements for Vive and in fact far below the recommended requirements of the Vive Pro (GTX 1070). That said, there have been a lot of improvements to the performance on the software side, especially in terms of motion smoothing and supersampling scaling that you can probably get it to work even with that GPU. Now that we've gotten all of that out of the way, I'd like to help you get your Vive Pro working on your laptop if it's at all possible. Above points not withstanding, you're getting an extended display on your HMD, so we have a place to begin. So let's start here: What would you like me to do? Thank you, -John C
  3. So it only happened right after you updated the Wireless application? Thanks, -John C
  4. That's strange. It almost sounds like it's a bug in the game. Have you tried re-pairing the controllers? I'd also reinstall the SteamVR drivers and see if that clears it up. Thank you, -John C
  5. You'll want to contact our Live Chat support at www.vive.com/us/support/contactus and set up and RMA. Unfortunately, it needs to be repaired. Thank you, -John C
  6. If it's working fine on another computer, the issue may be with the computer itself. Alternatively, it could be locational. It sounds like there might be something reflective or IR disruptive in that room. I would also reinstall the USB drivers using these steps and this tool: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?s=99fc613679d414ac10dc0dc9898716eb&ref=2748-WEIK-9562 Try resintalling the drivers first and then if that doesn't work, consider your play area for reflective surfaces or sources of IR light. Thank you, -John C
  7. The component that controls the base stations standby mode is located in the linkbox. That's still connected, right? If you bypassed it, that would be the reason they won't react to that. It could also be there's something wrong with the linkbox and that part isn't working like it should be. It did work at one point, right? This wasn't the case when you originally set your Vive up? Thank you, -John C
  8. The adapter might be the issue. It's generally not a good idea to use them on the Vive if you can help it. Try swapping it to the TV instead and just using the Vive direct to HDMI. Thank you, -John C
  9. Unplug everything and through SteamVR, remove all the drivers. Reboot and go through set up again. Make sure you're running as Admin, it almost sounds like it didn't install correctly the first time. Thank you, -John C
  10. It might help if you tell us more about your system specs and your set up. Are you on the latest drivers? What ports are you using? Are you using any adapters? Thank you, -John C
  11. The problem would appear to be a USB driver issue. Follow the instructions here and it should let you clear out all the drivers so you can start again. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?s=99fc613679d414ac10dc0dc9898716eb&ref=2748-WEIK-9562 Thank you! -John C
  12. Make sure your anti-virus isn't blocking it. That error usually comes up when it can't contact the internet for an update. Check your internet too. Thank you, -John C
  13. Have you tried reinstalling the application first? That should give you a chance to try again and see if it will pull the update. Make sure you reinstall as an administrator and make sure your anti-virus software isn't blocking it. Thank you! -John C
  14. No, but they will power themselves off for sleep mode if you're not using them anyways. Thank you, -John C
  15. A new Nvidia update came out recently and there have been some reports of issues with it. Have you tried rolling back to the previous update? Thank you, -John C
  16. I did read your opening post. That configuration will not work with 1.0 base stations. You cannot cover that much area with 2 base stations and if you have more than 2, you need to isolate them from each other. 2.0 base stations might work, but that functionality is in still in beta. Perhaps the Vive Focus Plus is more of what you want since it doesn't require external tracking hardware. https://enterprise.vive.com/us/focus-plus/ Thank you, -John C
  17. You don't really need more than 5 meters as most games aren't designed for any more space than that. You can get 6 meters from the 2.0 base stations, but again, most games aren't designed for larger play areas. Since you want to do an arcade, your HMD options are somewhat limited since only a handful have the power and library you're probably looking for. Most of those use lighthouse tracking which currently has the largest play area of all released PC VR HMDs. Realistically, there is going to be an upper limit on HMDs you can fit into a single room. If you put in partitions to keep each play area seperated from the other, you can get the most out of the space you have to work with. Thank you, -John C
  18. It almost sounds like it's power cycling. Can you swap the power adapter on it and see if that helps? Thank you, -John C
  19. If you can't bypass, what are you using to connect the linkbox to the GPU? Thank you, -John C
  20. Interesting. Let me know if that changes. Thank you, -John C
  21. Yes. I'm pretty sure I've posted about this previously, but in short, what's going on is that the laser rotor is not spinning fast enough for accurate tracking and at some point, Valve updated the firmware to detect when this was happening and create an error so users would know what was wrong. Unfortunately, someone figured out how to roll the firmware back and make the error disappear, even though that would not actual solve the problem. So what happens is users load old firmware and keep playing as the rotor slows down further and further, tracking gets worse and worse until one day it just is unplayable. The problem is, if that takes longer than the warranty period, they won't be able to get their device repaired anymore, whereas if they had the current firmware, got the warning earlier and got the device fixed they'd be fine. Thank you, -John C
  22. Wait a minute - "And I tried to Update the basestations once, afterwards they we're lighting up red and didn't work anymore" Your base station(s) need to be repaired. You can't just roll back the firmware to solve the problem. The issue still exists except that you put the old version of firmware back on that doesn't catch the rotational velocity drop and tracking errors. Thank you, -John C
  23. The only way that is going to work is if you completely block off each pair from each other so there's no chance the HMD will see the light from any other Base station. You'll probably need cubicles that go up above 7 feet. Thank you, -John C
  24. Everything seems fine in the report (you do need to update your base stations though) I don't see any reason why the cable wouldn't work and it is reporting your HMD is there so that's good. All the settings seem fine. Thank you, -John C
  25. It's calling out a specific issue with the HDMI cable? That's weird since the Vive Pro doesn't use HDMI. It's fair to conclude that the previous issue was resolved by disabling Antivirus? Were you able to create a System Report? I'm thinking reinstalling everything might be necessary at this point. (SteamVR, drivers, etc) Thank you, -John C
