  1. It's finally out but not on Infinity as I originally thought.
  2. The only difference I can see is that the Vive Pro power supply and Link Box input specs are 12v/1.5A while the Cosmos is 12v/2.5A (same rating as the 2.0 base stations). I realise that the Cosmos draws a little more power, hence the need for a better 21W wireless battery but just like this 21W battery can be used for OG Vive Pro I'm not sure why the Cosmos link Box Power supply and link Box can not be used. Headsets (and Wireless) will only draw as much current as they need. It would be different if the voltages were different. Anyway, maybe do me a favour and ask you engineers to clarify this. Thanks. Just be on the safe side I will initially only use the Vive pro link box and it's 12v/1.5A power supply. I still did not get any answers regarding setting this up since my Cosmos is already setup. I guess I'll just download and run the Vive setup again, selecting the Vive Pro this time. I'm not sure if that will uninstall my Cosmos setup? Guess I'll find out soon since I've just finished charging the controller bateries and mounting the base stations so I'm am almost ready to go. Wish me luck!
  3. Ok, not sure what is different but I will plan to only use the Vive Pro link box. Cosmos usb, DP and power supply should be ok though? Thanks.
  4. I'm expecting a nice new Vive Pro kit (McLaren limited edition) later today and I would like to know what I need to do to install it and if I can use the Cosmos Link Box / cables. In order to get started I have uninstalled my Cosmos wireless and taken it back to tethered. The Cosmos Link Box, cables, and power supply all look the same as for the Vive Pro. What I would like to be able to do is to simple headset/cable swap to the front link box port. Thanks for any help.
  5. Ya, and maybe because Cosmos controllers cannot use this anyway, lol!
  6. Ya, right now I'm not a big fan either, lol!
  7. One thing I would recommend doing with any VR system is to uninstall Nvidia HD audio, and never reinstall it ever again. When I update my Nvidia drivers (gtx1080ti in my case) I only ever select drivers and PhysX updates. I also use DDU in safe mode beforehand.
  8. Thanks, I'm looking forward to my new Vive Pro and I'm pretty sure I will be able to use one of my 2x Cosmos wireless adapter kits with it with maybe a foam mod or two. I still expect that the Cosmos will eventually come good and when it's lighthouse module comes out I will probably buy this. The flip up and colours/clarity of the Cosmos are actually sooooo good imho. Pity about the tracking, poor lighting adaptability, and poor controller compatibility. If the Index headset and controllers ever makes its way down under, I may give these a go as well. As much as I'm happy that I can afford to do all this, I hate to think what my wife is now planning to buy, lol! I just bought us a nice cruise around Japan so hopefully this will keep her happy for a while.
  9. Ok, since I'm not too happy with my Cosmos right now I decided to give Vive another chance to stay in business. I've ordered a Vive Pro McLaren limited edition that includes 2x 2.0 base stations plus controllers. I'll let you all know how this all works out. I'm happy that I can afford to do this btw. My next step may be to order an Index headset/controllers if these ever are ever made available in Australia.
  10. Right now, the only way to get decent, but still not perfect tracking, is to have a very good/even light source and good game room definitions (posters/paintings). Pretty unreasonable requirements imho. It also helps that your controller batteries are fully charged.
  11. Actually Rift S tracking issues were not fixed until its 1.39 update, mid-August. So, ~3 months from release. Besides minor tracking issues they also suffered from screen flashes every 10-30 minutes and grip/trigger lag. Again. all eventually sorted out within 3 months. The worry for me is that even with a few updates the Cosmos tracking and light tolerance is still not a good as the Rift S was upon its initial release. Also, Cosmos controller compatibility still has a long way to go as well. I guess the Rift S had an easier time since it basically used the same touch controller layout as the Rift cv1. I've actually needed to keep my Rift cv1 w/2x sensors hooked up and operational in order to even play many of my VivePort and SteamVR games and of course it's also best with Oculus store games since Revive is not fully Cosmos ready yet. Actually, it's kinda handy to have a 2 headset setup anyway btw. Right now my Rift is still being use ~75% of the time. I am starting to lose faith Vive's ability to suss out inside-out tracking. I hope that when they offer an outside-in lighthouse module that they provide new base stations and controllers at a very heavily discounted price for current Cosmos users.
  12. @Landable_land might work but not very well imho. The mobile version of the gtx1060 is not as powerful as its desktop version. I believe that Vive recommendations a gtx1070 or better for laptops.
  13. I also tried this beta last night (fairly low light conditions) and tracking was worse. I could not even play Angry Birds (slingshot). I tried again this morning under better lighting and tracking was much better, but not any better than 1.0.7.1 imho. I agree with Dickytwo, we need some significant tracking improvements asap. Also, tracking must be a lot more light tolerant imho.
  14. @Phr00t Nice picture but maybe try to find one with a Cosmos approved GPU. I don't think a GeForce GT 555M is going to make the cut, lol! @Landable_land If I were you I would avoid any VR with a laptop. It's always going to be a bit hit and miss imho. I've been there done that btw. I started VR almost 3 years ago with a pretty good quality Alienware 17r4 gaming laptop (i7 7700hq, gtx1060 6gb, 32Gb ram, 256mb ssd 1tb hdd) and to be honest it really did not run very many VR apps very well, esp. flight and racing sims. I finally bit the bullet and built a proper desktop gaming PC 6 months ago (i9 9900k water cooled, gtx1080ti, 32gb 3000 ram, 1tb ssd, 4tbhdd). This has made the world of difference to my VR experience. If you cannot afford to do this I would maybe consider a mobile VR option like the Vive Focus, Oculus Quest, or Oculus Go.
  15. Really nice if you would let us all know how this, whatever it was, was solved. Thanks.
  16. Just my opinion but I think that once a beta version is final then the Beta thread should either be closed, or combined, with any final release version thread. I think that this will help ensure that info is still out there and help reduce double posts.
  17. I don't use chaperone but turning the transparency to low plus lightest colored grey seems to make it disappear on the floor for me.
  18. Ya, I now have 2x QC3.0 Cosmos Batteries with QC3.0 wall charger I can now get all the runtime I want, or need, lol!
  19. @stvnxu , ya tracking now seems to be the same as 1.0.7.1. Pretty good improvement over original but still need more work of course. Looking forward t Pistol Whip! Thanks.
  20. Update as already mentioned in beta 1.0.8.1 thread but just to keep this together with this wireless thread; Actually, low light with wireless now seems a lot better with 1.0.8.1. I did get one low light warning but this disappeared pretty fast and did not seem to effect the quality of my visuals = still very good. Maybe the power saving disable option that appeared with this update (and I enabled) helped. Aside #1; Just for fun I tried using the 18W battery that came with the old wireless kit. Fully charged (4x green lights, not blue like the 21W) I got ~30-45 minutes of runtime before it stopped working properly = blank headset screen. So, not completely useless and at least I can still use this to charge things like my iPhone,. Once I get my new (kinda expensive because I needed to buy another Cosmos adapter kit) 21W battery I should be fine with hot swaps. Aside # 2; I found wrapping the headset/wireless cable one turn around the headband behind the left earphone helped get rid of the rear slack. I used the little Velcro strap that came with the very long wireless battery lead to help keep this in place and I have not noticed any problems or noticed any discomfort. Aside# 3; I found using the Link Box USB cable (L1, which you do not need once you go wireless btw)) to connect to the wireless battery works very well. It is a lot shorter but still reaches my front shirt pocket or right pant belt no problem. It also seems to be a better quality lead so maybe it is a bit more efficient, but I don't really know for sure. A lot better than the long thin wireless battery lead imho. I also like not having to use the Cosmos link Box and power adapter. Makes for a nicer, cleaner installation and frees up one DP port on your GPU.
  21. @Dickytwo , hopefully like me you will see some improvements. More to come for sure imho.

  23. @Busman222 , maybe try a better QC3.0 charger. This seems to have helped me get ~ 2 hrs now and fully charges in ~3 hours.
