  1. Make sure you have the latest MSI bios installed. This is a common problem with MSI laptops and VR. You can check the MSI website to find this; https://www.msi.com/Laptop/support/GE63VR-7RF-Raider
  2. I setup my new Vive Pro full kit a few weeks ago without any problems, updating the firmware for my headset, controllers, and 2.0 base stations. If you are trying to do this via Bluetooth, maybe make sure you do not have any other BT devices active. I guess you could try updating via usb (like I needed to do with my controllers). Have a look at the Vive Pro manual for instructions on how to do this.
  3. Ya, I have 1tb ssd main drive. My 4tb hdd is mainly just for data. This is a well balanced way to go imho. Edit; I think we are getting a bit off topic, lol!
  4. Just a good place to store all your VR games and other things Most do not require much disk activity except for loading so a good large hdd is a good economic way to go imho.
  5. You probably are not high end as you can get, lol!
  6. Ya, if you are a newbie VR user and can afford it (including a high end gaming PC) I'd actually recommend you buy a Vive Pro full kit w/2x 2.0 base stations/controllers right now and monitor the Cosmos evolution (which should end up looking pretty good imho). Maybe look at the Valve Index controllers later, once the bugs on these are sorted out or Vive comes out with better ones.. I'd recommend this over the Index because of the Vive Wireless option, which works very well imho. If you cannot afford to get a high end gaming PC (i7 9700k water cooled, gtx1080ti, 16gb 3000 ram, 1 tb ssd, 4tb hdd, all or better), then you are probably best to just buy a standalone like the Oculus Quest for now imho.
  7. I gotta say, even I'm starting to doubt that Vive will ever get the Cosmos inside out tracking at least as good as the Oculus Rift S. I suspect I will need to wait for the ~$US200 Steam Faceplate Module and use my current 2.0 base stations/controllers in order to finally get good tracking. This module should be available within the next few months. Whether or not this module will provide the same tracking as the OG Vive and Vive Pro is still to be determined. My concern is that based on limited info out there it appears that this module only has 1/2 as many sensors (6 vs 12 sensors) as the other Vive headsets. Too bad since I love everything else with my Cosmos; comfort, clarity, audio, wireless support, and the new Vive VR system w/Origin.
  8. Good to hear. I think I'll just stick with the Stable SteamVR version (currently 1.8.21) for now unless there is a compelling reason to go with the Beta. I will stick with Cosmos Beta though in the hope that Vive engineers finally manage to fix current tracking issues.
  9. @joellipenta , If I were you I would opt out of SteamVR beta and go to the latest stable release (currently 1.8.21). The Steam overlay access works fine with that release btw. Actually everything feels a little snappier with 1.8.21 for some reason. Also, it will save you wearing out your link box power button, lol!
  10. Today I tried opting out of SteamVR beta and rolled back to the latest stable 1.8.21. This did not make any difference.
  11. I was having a few problems after today's SteamVR Beta 1.9.8 update. I found that Steam VR did not properly startup (error 217), and when it did I got a headset error !-mark that said I needed to restart the headset. I did this and then got the SteamVR error 217 again. I found that the workaround for this was after getting the initial 217 error I turned my link box power button off, then on again and everything seemed to then startup and work fine. I needed to go through this every time. I ended up opting out of SteamVR beta and went back to the current stable version 1.8.21 and I then did not have any startup problems. I'm not sure if others have noticed any similar problems but I thought I would pass this on. @stvnxu
  12. So, looks like another tech support question without an answer, lol! @jagibson
  13. I've found that after any SteamVR updates (I'm on the beta, so these happen pretty often), including any firmware updates, I seem to need to re-select the Base Station power management option for it to work properly.
  14. Bring up your Steam Library on your PC desktop. Look For SteamVR, right click on it, select Properties, go to beta tab and select beta. The latest beta will then download and install and you should be able to monitor its progress. After updates I find it a good idea to exit and restart Steam. So, Vive Pro-Eye is your first PCVR headset? Pretty big/expensive entry point for newbies imho. I thought the Pro-Eye was only for Enterprise VR. Are there any games that currently benefit from the eye-tracking feature? Thanks.
  15. If you feel the need for a good browser in VR, that also doubles as a good video viewer, I recommend buying Virtual Desktop on Steam for ~$10-15. Works great imho. Still would be nice if Vive had its own easy to use desktop viewer like my Oculus Rift has. Maybe it will someday. SteamVR has its own desktop viewer but it's not all that great to use imho.
  16. I've never found your fixes help. Even Win10 troubleshooting does not help me. The only thing that helps me 100% of the time is to turn my Vive Pro Link Box power button off, then on again to restart the headset. After this, it's all sweet! I agree that whatever fix work for you and is not too much a pita, is great. Still, for an expensive headset like the Vive Pro, I would expect more.
  17. Update; I have now gone back to the Beta version, without 'performance priority mode' enabled. I cannot tell any differences, still pretty poor tracking imho. At least I can see the version number on the startup top tile, lol! I'll probably stay on the beta program in order to monitor further Cosmos improvements. Cheers.
  18. I think you need to have SteamVR installed beforehand (which needs internet to do). Then you may be able to run it in offline mode. Still probably best to do all this with a proper internet connection to begin with imho.
  19. Ok. I just tried rolling back from the current beta version of this. I was not able to do this by unplugging my Cosmos headset as per your instructions because it would go offline, give me error messages about this and would not proceed with any update. I ended up rolling it back ok by just leaving it connected. The update was pretty fast and there was not any firmware updates that normally follow this. I guess the firmware was already present in the beta? Seems to work about the same as the beta so far. No improvement to tracking and I have not seen any since the earlier 1.0.7.1 which was a significant improvement. In fact I think that all updates since this have resulted in slightly worse tracking, esp. with bow and arrow and slingshot games. One thing I noticed is there is no version number on the startup screen top tile. Also, the (BETA) Added support for “Performance Priority mode” in Settings/Video to improve headset display experience is now greyed out. To be honest I never saw any advantages of this performance priority mode with the beta. All it seemed to do was make everything in my lense menus a little blurry. Maybe this was aimed at improving wireless, which I am not currently using. While it's always nice to see updates it would be nice to see better overall results imho. Aside question; When a current beta goes public (final) do you recommend rolling the beta back to it or just stick with the beta? Any pros/cons? Thanks.
  20. Outside your Valve Index country support you may be out of luck with any warranty claims.
  21. If I were you I would do a google search for ' thin transparent flexible double sided tape '. Something like 3M 9088 might do but it may be better to find something a little less wide, like ~6mm instead of 12mm (you could always cut it smaller). The adhesives in these tapes do not contain any solvents so they should be very safe to use. Just don't stick them to your lens though, lol! Kinda hard to believe that Vive cannot provide you with a replacement nose guard with a pre-installed double sided adhesive strip. I'm sure they could if they wanted to.
  22. I've only had my Vive Pro (McLaren limited version w/2.0 base stations and controllers) for less than a month now and I think this has been a problem right from the start (probably beta 1.9.4, now 1.9.5). During this short time I have also received 2x headset firmware updates and 1x firmware updates for my 2.0 base stations and controllers. I do not have a similar problem with my Cosmos btw. It really does not look like this is something new since there are lots of similar Reddit posts that go a ways back. Also, this is mentioned in the troubleshooting part of the Vive Pro manual. There it tells you to disconnect your link box usb cable then connect it again. This work as well but it is far easier for me just to turn my link box power button off/on. So it seems to me to be a Vive problem, but who knows? Maybe Vive needs to program in a bit of delay in the Pro audio switching. @jagibson
  23. No, because both controllers use different VR systems. Probably the closest you could get to the Cosmos controllers for your Pro are the Valve Index controllers. I'm thinking about buying a set of these for my Pro if Valve ever ends up shipping them to Australia.
