  1. Ya, but for only ~$10 these chargers are cheap and probably better to buy locally for local specs anyway imho.
  2. Yes but it probably will not work as well as a proper QC3.0 charger imho. Maybe do a bit of Googling to see the diff.
  3. Sorry but I'm not sure that this is a QC3.0 approved charger.
  4. Ok, with my new QC3.0 wall charger I charger my Cosmos 21W battery that was one light showing when I last looked at it so it could have been anything between 11-25% charged, probably something in the middle. It took just under 3 hours to fully recharge. So, quite a but faster then my good old 5v/2a smartphone wall charger. I'll haver to see whether or not I get better runtimes with this charger. Stay tuned, lol!
  5. I actually went back to beta 1.0.8.1 because I thought my wireless worked a little better. It gave me the option to remove power savings from the wireless and this seems to have helped improve my wireless performance, esp. with X Plane 11. I'm not sure about low light problems. I guess I'll find out tonight, lol!
  6. @NRip , ya of course you will use a lot less battery during setups vs actual full bore sim racing so it will be interesting to see how much battery life you get then. Please let us know, thanks mate. I'm sure your current Pc is capable of decent VR racing sims but you may want to consider upgrading to a i7-9700k and RTX 2080s sometime in the future, esp. with the wireless adapter because I've found it does tend to use a far amount of CPU resources. I finally broke down today and ordered another Cosmos QC3.0 21W battery. I had to order another Cosmos adapter kit to get it so $A 119 all up shipped. Probably the worlds most expensive headset battery, lol! Oh well, it's only money eh. I also bought a proper QC3.0 18W wall charger. So now I will at least be able to fast swap these.
  7. @Cappy1 in most games you can call up lense, go to settings, and adjust your height. Not a very elegant way to do it but I find this often helps get you on the right level at least. Fortunately many games at least have a re-centre function and while it can get you pointed in the right direction, it does not always get your height right. BTW, once I got my direction in about the right orientation I've never needed to go through the Cosmos setup ever again.
  8. Update; I rolled back to 1.0.7.1 and while I still got the odd low light message it was short and did not seem to effect the image quality so I think I'll stick to that for now. One thing I notice it that every time I change headset software I get prompted to update VivePort software and this just goes back to the same version as before. Also, after an update if I go into Origin it hangs. If I exit it and try again it is fine. Not that I use Origin much, I just thought I would mention this.
  9. @88sooner I also noticed this beta was a little more sensitive to lower lighting than 1.0.7.1. I'm going to roll back to it. It's a final version so not problem rolling back.
  10. Sorry but I find this pretty hard to believe mate. Even Vive pro users do not get this kind of battery life and the older lighthouse stations headsets take a lot less wireless power to operate. Maybe you got a Super-Battery, lol!
  11. OK, tried it but since I was not really having any of the issues that this beta update addressed I did not notice any difference but I hope it helped some. I'm looking forward to the next beta that hopefully improves tracking and variable lighting conditions (actually the two are kind of related imho). Thanks to all the Vive engineers for all their hard work. Cheers.
  12. Good for you mate. Maybe see how you go after a few more cycles. What are you using to charge your pack with? Maybe you have something better than my 5v/2A wall charger. I have ordered a new QC3.0 charger so this might help. Main thing is I'm still going to need an extra pack sometime soon. I cannot believe that the Cosmos wireless kit includes the old wireless kit's lower rated battery that cannot be used with the Cosmos. Why the heck Vive did not at least swap it out for one like the new one? Maybe just another example of someone not thinking the Cosmos release out properly. Between this plus poor performance with my wireless kit with X Plane 11 and continuing poor controller compatibility I'm just about ready to park my Cosmos (and wireless kit) and just go back to using my good old Oculus Rift cv1 w/2x sensors. Then I will just wait for Cosmos development to catch up, which I'm sure it will over the next few months.
  13. @joellipenta , I seem to only get ~1.5 hours with my Cosmos battery pack. Not sure how you are getting 2.5 hours?
  14. Ya, the Cosmos takes more power to work compared to Vive pro which is why they needed to up its capability from 18W to 21W. Unfortunately they did not provide a larger capacity (mAh) so runtimes will of course be lower. Right now, the only way for me to get another 21w Cosmos battery is to buy another Cosmos adapter kit ($99 for me in Australia, plus shipping), lol! Please let us know how you make out with your support request. Thanks.
  15. A re-centre button lets you re-centre yourself in 3D. Pretty hard to explain unless you see this with the Oculsu re-centre button imho.
  16. Actually, watching a movie might not be all that easy because the Cosmos currently does not have a re-centre button. So, you may have a problem lining up the movie's orientation, esp. if you want to watch it on a recliner or in bed. I'm not a big fan of watching movies in VR although I do watch a few with my Oculus Go because it is easy to re-centre and does not have a knob on the back of its headstrap.
  17. Thanks for that. I will definitely buy a QC3.0 wall charger. These are supposed to charge QC3.0 devices (like the Cosmos wireless battery) at 18W. My conventional 5v/2A = 10W so a QC3.0 should charge almost twice as fast. I still would like an extra Cosmos battery though so I could have one charged up and ready to swap. Thanks again.
  18. I 've recharged a few times now once it got down to 25% (first light just starts to blink). It took about 3-4 hours to recharge with a 5v 2A USB wall charger. So, if you use a typical 5v 1A USB phone charger it will take about 6-8 hours. I only seem to be getting about 1.5 hrs runtime before I need to recharge. Once the battery's 4 lights (= full charge) goes down to 1 light starting to flash (= 25%) you want to charge it pretty soon after or you will start to get some display and tracking issues. You may get a low battery warning but I did not notice this so you are best to just periodically check the battery lights. Also, the battery seems to get hotter the more it is discharged. You should also allow the battery to cool down (about 10 minutes) to at least body temperature before putting it on a charger so you do not damage the battery. Unfortunately battery life and long charge times are the weak link to enjoying the Cosmos wireless for me right now. I think that Vive needs to look at supplying at least 2 battery packs or maybe just a higher mAh capacity battery (maybe 15-20000mAh) together with a fast (4A?) wall charger imho.
  19. Ok, I got my nice new Cosmos Wireless kit today. All very easy to install and setup. Comes with another 2 months free Infinity so with the 12mo that came with my pre-order plus another 2mo bonus, plus this 2mo. So I'm good till Feb 2021, lol! Overall it seems to work pretty well. I have had the odd hiccup (black screen) going in and out of some SteamVR games like Assetto Corsa but this might have something to do with the new Steam release earlier today. I did not have any problems with any Viveport games. They all worked great. It's pretty comfortable but the supplied short DP cable is a little on the long side and tends to drape down the back of your neck unless you pull a lot of slack on the visor side. I still have not found a good place to put the battery so I can tie up a lot of the 2m of cable but I'm sure I will figure this out. The 21 Watt battery (not 21v btw) seems fine but I think you will be hard pressed to get much more than 1.5-2 hrs out of it. I think I'm going to need to find another one. Not sure where? My only major complaint right now is that the performance of my high demand flight sims like X Plane 11 seems to be quite a bit lower that it was tethered. Tethered I was getting a solid 45fps and with wireless this is down to 30-35fps. XP11 is pretty poor at the best of times because it does not utilise multi-cores right now. Hopefully when it goes to Vulcan early next year this will improve. I'm using an i9 9900k oc to 5ghz with a gtx1080ti and 32gb 3000 ram btw. I'll play with a few more settings to see if I can improve the wireless performance. Any tips? Since my main VR usage is flight and racing sims I'm kinda disappointed with the drop in performance so far. Again, very early days so hopefully I will find ways to improve upon this.
  20. Ya, you feel free to help him (or her). I guess I'm too much of a cranky old fart to put up with poorly defined problems, or guys shooting from the hip, lol!
  21. Sounds like your GPU's are not up to the task, esp. a 1050, lol! You really need the min recommended gtx1070 or preferably better GPU imho. Otherwise, nothing but problems......
  22. I'll just stick with DR1 on my Rift for now.
  23. @Subzer0 Total BS, or maybe a troll imho. The Rift S took at least 3 months to get it right. Refer to the Oculus release notes if you do not believe this.
