  1. Tracking is slowly improving. In your vive console you can go to settings/advanced and opt into the beta versions. This may help a bit.
  2. Pretty hard to say. Mine does not do this nor do I have any twist in my headset to link box cable. Maybe ask Vive support to send you another cable to try. Either that or request an RMA which will probably require you to ship your Cosmos back to them for inspection. Good luck mate.
  3. @A-Jey I only get the very odd too dark message now, even under poorly lit night conditions. Also, these are now very easy to dismiss by just moving your head left/right ~90 degrees a couple of times. Since the last 2x updates I have never seen a too bright message btw. Tracking is slowly improving but still has a way to go to match the Rift S inside-out tracking. Actually I'm looking forward to the SteamVR faceplate since base stations will always produce the best tracking. Xmas cheers!
  4. Thanks for letting us know. At least those cables are pretty inexpensive. Best of all, unlike my Rift cv1, at least these are actually available, lol!
  5. @Cypress_86 Ya, a small area rug is probably worth trying. Also, maybe ditch the mirrors on your ceiling, lol! Just kidding. Cheers.
  6. New beta update just came out (1.0.9.2). Seems to be a pretty significant improvement in tracking. Too bad it was not available prior to this headset comparison YT video.
  7. OK, I just tried this beta and I think it's a pretty significant improvement in tracking. Still not quite Rift S gold standard for inside out, but getting a lot closer. Longbow in the lab is actually quite playable now. The slingshot in Angry birds vr is still pretty unstable but if you hold it at a bit of an angle it's at least playable now. Two handled rifles still kinda wander around though. The Xmas theme in Origin looks great and I like the candy cane magic markers. I noticed a significant improvement in controller occlusions when drawing and moving the other controller in front and behind each other. Also, drawing circles out to the sides produced nice smooth, unbroken curves. I use rechargeable eneloop batteries and normally get ~4 hours runtime so I'll keep an eye on these and see if I notice any improvements. Overall, I give this update a big thumbs up. Thanks Vive engineers and have yourselves a merry little xmas! Cheers.
  8. Ya, I'm getting a lot of ribbing about this on the Oculus Forum, lol! Vive wands also did not fair well either with the recommendation to switch to Index controllers (which are still not available in Australia anyway). Oh well, at least I've still got my good old Rift cv1 w/2x sensors. Hopefully this review will light a fire under the seats of Vive engineers.
  9. The Cosmos fan does nothing for this imho. I use 2x desk fans (one in front, one of to the side) to help keep me cool and fog-free during hot aussie summers. This on top of a good aircon, lol!
  10. Thanks, I'll give that a go and let you know. Cheers.
  11. It actually took ~3 months for Oculus to sort out the Rift S inside out tracking, system flashes, and controller grip lag. Maybe give Vive another month or two to see what they can do. In the meantime, since we are all enthusiastic users, lets keep things a bit more civil to both Vive support staff, and esp. fellow users. Thanks guys. Cheers.
  12. I have not noticed any lagging but wireless certainly does use up a few extra CPU resources. So, if you have a weak CPU (I have an i9 9900k) then your performance may be effected. I've also heard that going into your Cosmos wireless setting and changing your mode from 1 (default) to 2 can help. Maybe refer to the Wireless manual for more troubleshooting tips and also maybe contact Vive support for more help.
  13. Ya, free SteamVR faceplates for everyone would be nice. Even better if this also included 2.0 base stations and controllers. If you think that either of these is going to happen, you're dreaming mate. Maybe some sort of discount, who knows? It will be interesting to see if the SteamVR faceplate will allow you to setup the Cosmos via SteamVR-only. That would be a big plus for guys like yourself who don't like the current Vive Cosmos VR environment and VivePort. Again, imho I think it's great. As I already mentioned, I also have a Vive Pro full kit w/2.0 base stations/controllers. I don't actually see why this would need an integrated cooling fan like the Cosmos. The Cosmos draws a bit more power because of it's 6x cameras so this is probably the reason it has one. The Vive Pro link box uses a 12v1.5A power supply and the Cosmos uses a 12v2.5A power supply. Likewise, the Cosmos needs 21W batteries for wireless while the Pro only needs 18W batteries. You do the maths. My Vive Pro, does not get much, if any, warmer than my Cosmos. As far as screen quality goes there is not a lot in it. I would say that the Cosmos has slightly better clarity. However, the Vive Pro is much better in darkish environments (= much better blacks/contrast) because it is oled vs Cosmos lcd screens. My good old Rift cv1 with oled screens is actually a bit better in darkish spots than my Cosmos. I just got Westworld Awakening from Steam (~70% off for the next 12 hours so pretty good value) and the difference between my diff headsets is pretty obvious with this game imho. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1133320/Westworld_Awakening/ The audio on both are good but I like that the Vive Pro has headphone volume control and mic muting features. I would say that my good old Rift cv1 audio is at least as good as the Cosmos. Of course the Vive Pro is SteamVR compatible so, like your OG Vive it does not require VivePort (which I still kinda like). In your case you maybe should consider returning you Cosmos and spend a bit more to purchase a Vive Pro full kit with 2.0 base stations/controllers. Then look at selling off (or gifting) your original Vive w/1.0 base stations/controllers. Fortunately I can afford to buy/keep just about any VR headset I'd like. I'd probably also have an Index if they were sold down-under, lol! Maybe I still will if they ever become available (with RMA's, I'm not silly). I currently am using a Rift cv1 w/2x sensors, a Vive, Cosmos, and a Vive Pro (but have also owned a Rift S and WMR headsets as well). To be honest, if I could only keep one of these it would probably be my good old Oculus Rift cv1 w/2x sensors, lol! If I could only have two I would probably go for the Pro over the Cosmos right now. I still intend to hang onto my Cosmos to see how it develops over time because with its modular design I think it has a lot of potential. I like the new Vive VR environment and I also really like it's flip-up screen. Anyway, just a few of my thoughts. Please don't think I'm belittling or being dismissive of yours. Sorry, I could just not help myself mate, lol! Cheers.
  14. Everyone, including you and me, needs to rant/vent once in a while imho. I'm still hopeful that Vive will sort this out with further software/firmware updates.
  15. Overclocking can also cause system instability which may cause crashes, especially under high VR gaming loads.
  16. Sorry, not meant as a personal attack. I was just surprised to see someone complaining about the new Vive Cosmos VR system. I also have a Vive Pro and an Oculus Rift cv1w/2x sensors. Wile the tracking is far better with both of these I prefer the Cosmos VR system with Lense. I will say that I’m not a big fan of the Origin environment but at least you are not forced to use this. To me it looks like you were mainly disappointed with the apparent lack of Cosmos controller compatibility in many SteamVR and VivePort games and of course the poor Cosmos inside out tracking. Hopefully both will improve in the near future. I hope it does not end up requiring a Steam faceplate module but if that is the case I’m prepared to buy one and use my Vive Pro 2.0 base stations and controllers. I’m not a big fan of the Vive wands so might look at Index controllers if they ever make their way down under. I was also a little surprised to see you complaining about VivePort. I’m actually really enjoying my free Infinity subscription. Anyway, please do not take any of this as a personal attack. This is an open forum and I respect your opinions. Hopefully you will do the same.
  17. @Zepps You must be kidding mate. I think the new Vive VR system is one of the best things about the Cosmos. The Lense window is very user friendly and you can access both your viveport and SteamVR apps. When you open your Vive Cosmos console SteamVR is also opened. You can access its settings same as you always did. If you check your Steam icon in your taskbar and right click on it and access things like your library on your desktop. I gotta say you are the first person I have ever heard complain about the new Vive VR system. Each to their own I guess, lol!
  18. @alubaking Thanks but this did not fix this. It did give me the idea to go through all my audio properties though and make sure that they all had the same sample rate (= DVD quality). Unfortunately that did not seem to help either. I still suspect this is a Vive audio driver issue that does not appear to be important enough to fix. @jagibson
  19. Great, glad this helped. Kinda hard to believe that there isn't a proper Vive Pro Full kit (w/2.0 base stations) manual out there yet. I gotta say that before you queried this, and I researched it a bit, I was in the dark with my 2.0 base stations as well. So your thread helped me as well. Cheers mate!
  20. I did not have any problems today with my current Beta so I guess this has been resolved? @C.T.
  21. @HUYA also I just checked my 2.0 base station channels by hovering my mouse over each base station icon. One is channel 1, the other is channel 2. Both are working fine. I did use Bluetooth to set them up and update firmware. Sorry but since they are well positioned and setup I’m not prepared to rip them off my walls to try manually changing channels, lol!
  22. I believe there is a small hole at the back that you can press with a paper clip to change channels. This change should show up in SteamVR when you hover your mouse over the base stations icons. You may want to google something like; changing valve 2.0 base station channels without Bluetooth.
  23. @HUYA , there is a whole section on Vive Pro support on setting up base stations. With and without Bluetooth. Also, how to change channels. Have a look at this link; https://www.vive.com/ca/support/vive-pro-hmd/category_howto/updating-the-base-stations-via-cable-connection.html There is also a manual you can download that explains all this this very well. https://dl4.htc.com/Web_materials/Manual/Vive_HMD/User_Guide/VIVE_Pro_HMD_User_Guide.pdf
