  1. VIVE Eye and Facial Tracking SDK 1.3.3.0 Release

We've just updated the VIVE Eye and Facial Tracking SDK over at the VIVE Developer site

It now includes a CAD file (.stp format) for the mounting mechanism of the VIVE Facial Tracker those who want to experiment with it. We have to mention that VIVE only guarantees performance and compatibility of the VIVE Facial Tracker with the VIVE Pro Series of headsets. Any physical changes you make to the mechanism are done at your own risk, and not covered by the warranty.

I'm having the same issues reported here. I'm 20+ hours into troubleshooting and have tried everything from reinstalling to manually editing configuration files with no result. No errors are being thrown unless there's something in the logs somewhere, no devices are disabled, for all intents and purposes everything on the computer software end appears to be functioning perfectly but my vr headset's display is mirrored vertically. My system report is as follows. Please tell me I've missed something obvious like a moron so I can get this working. :)

Could use the Report Issue function in Vive Console and send over the trace number please?

Same issue as posted. Brand new Vive Cosmos Elite Headset is displaying Inverted. Vive Console is giving me Error 205 about GPU driver. AMD Radeon 5700 XT Up-to-date as of 5/1/20.  SteamVR's "Display VR View" is showing appropriate orientation. Under Manage SteamVR Add-Ons in SteamVR settings there is only Gamepad Support and htc_rr

Could you try a complete reinstall of the Vive Software?

If that doesn't help, use the Report Issue function and send over a trace number

Yup, gave it a few just now. This time a UAC DID pop up but nothing  further   happened.

Hey would you be able to check if there's something in c:\tmp? That's where the logs would be aggregated by the reporting tool before uploading.

If the logs are there, would you be able to email it over to my work email please? shen_ye[at]htc[dot]com. We'll have a quick look, but it may be Monday before we can get back to you on the cause.

  5. Thanks for the info.

When I hit the Report Issue function it spins and then does nothing. Is this saving somewhere?

The report issue function should upload the logs and once complete will provide you a trace number. (instructions here: https://forum.vive.com/topic/6662-how-to-report-issues-through-the-vive-console/ )

Is it still spinning if you leave it for a few minutes?

Hey guys, facing the same issue. On Steam VR the vr view on the desktop is on the correct orientation. I am using the HTC Vive Cosmos Elite and the view is upside down. One thing to note is that on the Vive console, it shows me an error 003? and it was a compositor error prompting me to restart vive console however Steam VR works fine along with games. I was able to start a game and it shows right side up but my headset is upside down. I attempted to reset the room setup and height works normally. I am running off a Xeon E5- 2690 and a GTX970-DCMOC-4GD5 which only has one DP slot. Let me know if you need me to send you any extra information.

Assuming you're not using any display adapters or 3rd party cables?

Could you also use the Report Issue function and send over the trace number please?

Same issue here. Tried resetting and reinstalling multiple ways and times. Also deleted the default Steam VR Settings cache and removed USB Devices via Steam VR in case my (Sadly returned due to breakage) Vive Pro had leftover artifacts. Every time I have the headset on the x and y axis are inverted, to the point where turning upside down looks the exact same

    Thoughts?

    @Shen Ye @C.T.

can you help give a few more details please? Which headset? What are you PC specs?
If you can, please also use the Report Issue function and provide a trace number

Sure, I've done it. The code is 20200408163740

Than you again for your time. I really appreciate it!

Okay, looks like that card is straight up incompatible due to certain dependencies when it comes Direct Mode. Your new GPU should fix this (we checked the logs and that was the only cause of the error), let us know if you have any issues when you install the new GPU.

I'm using the original cables and I've just installed the latest drivers and the error persists

Okay we will take a look at the logs - could you do another report issue so we have the logs with the latest nvidia drivers please? Thanks!

    Hello Shen!

I've installed the drivers and it seems like the USB port error has gone, but it still keeps failing to turn on. This time the error that always prompt is the code 210. Any idea about how to fix this? Restarting the VIVE Console app doesn't seem to work as suggested on the support website. I've reported a new ticket to upload new logs (2020040813235).

About the GPU, I am waiting to receive a new one, but I don't know when I will receive it due to this unfortunate virus situation. So I wanted to test the headset to make sure that it works fine.

    Thank you!

Great. In regards to error 210 are you using any adapters or 3rd party cables to connect your Cosmos? Are your Nvidia drivers up to date?

Sure, the trace number is 20200407141035.

    Thanks!

    @C.T.

According to the logs, those USB ports are indeed running at USB 2.0 speeds, with no errors. We suspect your Windows OS is lacking the necessary USB 3.0 drivers for the NEC/Renesas USB 3.0 controllers that power your mobo's USB 3.0 port. I had a look on ASUS's website and it doesn't look like they supply Windows 10 drivers for them, but you could try going into Device Manager and seeing if you can get Windows Update to find newer drivers for the USB controllers. If that doesn't work our engineering team is suggesting you take a look over here for the original drivers (but please check the controller model and version you have when selecting the correct driver): https://www.win-raid.com/t834f25-USB-Drivers-original-and-modded.html

Side note, we noticed you're using an Nvidia GTX 760 2GB, we have some concerns with how well your experience will be on that card as its performance falls short of our minimum specs.

@Shen Ye Yes, I have six USB 3.0 ports. I've tried all of them

very strange. Could you go into Vive Console > Troubleshooting > Report Issue and submit an issue? It will upload the logs and provide you a trace number. If you could send that over, we can take a look into it in more detail.

Okay, i've bought a vive cosmos, but i cant seem to get it to work. I've tried reinstalling Drivers, reinstalled steam, Vive console, restarting vive, unplugging everything and reconnecting everything.  Nothing is working.

Trying to run it on a ASUS ROG Strix G531GT-AL003R Laptop. Specs:

    CPU: Intel Core i7 (9th gen) 9750H/2.6Ghz

    16 GB  (2x8GB) DDR4 RAM

    GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX1650

Headset and controllers are connecting, But LED on headset is red, I get error 210 in Vive Dashboard.

My laptop has no displayport, But i used an active HDMI+USB3.0 to Displayport adapter.

SteamVR is picking up the correct graphics card, and says VR is tracking, but Vive dashboard is saying not tracking. I also have nothing on the screen in the VR headset, even though steamVR is showing there should be

when i run Vive cosmos setup, it also confirms that it is detecting the displayport entrance.

    Help plox

    Hey Josh,

As C.T. mentioned, HDMI to DP signal conversion isn't supported on Cosmos. And personally speaking from experience, I don't think I've ever seen HDMI to DP converter work when it comes to enabling VR.

I had a look at your laptop spec over on ASUS's site and the GT variant you have doesn't have a DP signal out anywhere (including the USB C port). At this point, I think if you're looking to use VR on this specific laptop, you're limited to the ones that use HDMI.

    Hi @Maijin19

Sorry about the issue you experienced, after looking through the logs but we suspect the DP port you have on the laptop wasn't coming directly through the dedicated GPU. We weren't able to support this laptop.

    Best Regard
    C.T.

Hey @Maijin19, would you be able to share what laptop you have? As C.T. mentioned, it looks like the DisplayPort output you're using is hooked to the iGPU instead of the Nvidia GPU. Is there another DP output you can see? Thunderbolt 3 ports and some USB-C ports also carry a DP signal.
