  1. @tonton You multitude (6x on this last page already!) of rants are not helping anyone and are a bit annoying. Maybe give this a rest for a while and just enjoy your Rift cv1. Monitor this forum and if you see any new updates that others report improvements with, try them out and comment on them. Thanks mate.
  2. Mine only does this if I my wireless battery in not fully charged and/or the battery I'm using is not high enough rates (18W for Vive/Vive Pro, 21W for Cosmos. Also, try a better quality thicker usb 3.0 cable to replace the fairly thin cable that came with the Wireless kit. This is worth trying to resolve this yourself because thanks to the worldwide coronovirus problem RMA's may take some time to be resolved.
  3. Well, maybe get smaller frames (mine are 140x40mm and fit well) with high index lens (thinner, lighter). The Vive Pro has slightly more room for glasses and its faceplate slides in/out. These might have been a better fit for you.
  4. Mine (and others) have always done this. After charging, if you unplug the charger and plug it in again you may see the white light. This is not big deal for me. I just make sure I charge them for at least 6 hours. You can also check their battery levels in the SteamVR void (4 dots = full).
  5. Do you use glasses? The focal length for the Cosmos is ~5-6ft so if you need glasses at that distance use them.
  6. OK, so now that private beta 1.0.11.2 is disclosed and thought to be better than the current public beta 1.0.11.1 I guess there is no point in trying the current beta, lol!
  7. @dflorin77 You might also want to try the SteamVR developer menu and select Large space, put a controller on the ground in the middle of your play space, and then select it. I've found that sometimes this helps as well. As much as it's a bit of a pitas I think it's still worthwhile to be opted into the SteamVR beta. You do this by going to your Steam library in your desktop , right click on it , go to the beta tab and opt into beta.
  8. @dflorin77 I have a Vive Pro (not eye) w/2.0 base stations/controllers and I find that after some of the many SteamVR updates (I'm usually opted to Beta) I need to re-do the room setup. Plus I need to re-calibrate each controller (right click on controller icon on SteamVR window and select calibrate). This usually fixes things for me. If this does not help make sure that your base stations are firmly mounted and that there are not any reflective surfaces in you play space. As far as charging the vive 2.0 controllers go, I have always seen the same as you. As long as I've charged them for at least 6 hrs I never worry about this. When you are in your SteamVR void you should see that they are fully charged (4x dots).
  9. No I still use stock faceplate pads. I just thought that if you changed these it might make a bit too loose and wobbly. Sorry I don't know of any settings that would help. You are probably best to contact Vive Support and see if they can help. Good luck mate.
  10. @llealloo I've never had this happen with my original Cosmos with wireless. Maybe check that your base stations are firmly mounted above head level and you do not have any reflective surfaces in your play area. I know my Vive Pro w/base stations can get a bit jittery if either are the case. Also check that your wireless sensor is firmly mounted above head level. Do you still use the stock faceplate pads?
  11. The Cosmos Elite uses SteamVR tracking, not the inside-out tracking that the original Cosmos uses. So you need to use the base stations and controllers that came with your Elite kit.
  12. Last word from Vive was that they are delayed a bit due to problems associated with the Coronavirus. They expect them to be available sometime within Qtr 2 (apr-june) 2020. I'm sure they will make an announcement when they are available to order, or maybe pre-order. Nothing on their website yet.
  13. Nice review/comparison mate. Thanks for sharing this. I don't imagine your poor old Cosmos is going to see the light of day for a while. Maybe later if you decide to try wireless. Enjoy your new toy!
  14. We must be about due for a better Beta!
  15. It would be good to hear what new users of the Cosmos Elite think of it. I'm sure it will be a great addition to the Vive Cosmos lineup.
  16. Thanks Mate, I'll give this a go next time I use my Vive Pro wireless. Right now I'm using it wired mainly because I get better FPS performance with my flight/racing sims than with cpu-hogging wireless.
  17. @Margar I see that the latest version 2.0.0 of Revive is supposed to help fix this. So, maybe update Revive and try again. Not sure if this has worked for everyone though. https://github.com/LibreVR/Revive/releases
  18. @Margar If you do a bit of googling you will see that this game does not currently work properly (crashes) using the Oculus Store version and Revive. If you want to use it with your Vive headset you will need to buy the Steam Store version. This version should also work with an Oculus headset. If you've had it for less than a couple of weeks and less than 2hrs gameplay you can probably get a refund from the Oculus Store.
  19. I don't think the description of the original Cosmos has changed. The new Cosmos Elite with base stations does say it has better VR tracking but that's to be expected. Both should work fine for most PC gamers. Cosmos inside-out tracking still need a bit of improvement for some games (esp. 2 handed rifle and slingshot). I like its controllers but like you say, not all games (even on VivePort) have been properly tuned to them. It is slowly improving though and there are ways to modify their binding within SteamVR if you take the effort to learn how to do this. Still not as simple as it should be though. Since you are well past a return/refund window you are pretty well limited to either hang it there and hope for further software improvements or try to sell them on places like Ebay. There is supposed to be a new Elite faceplate-only option available soon but that would require you to have either 1.0 or 2.0 base stations/controllers. If you do not already have these that's going to be pretty expensive. Maybe Vive will offer discounted combos for original Cosmos owners. Who knows?
  20. @Glaucoma Predator No doubt about it, base station tracking (or external sensors like my Rift cv1) will always be better than inside-out tracking. However, the Rift S (which I have used) inside-out tracking is very good and it certainly is a lot easier to setup and move to different locations if need be. Hopefully the Cosmos will improve to those standards in the near future. If and wen it does I'll probably take it out of storage and use my Wireless adapter with it. Good luck with your Index mate.
  21. @Glaucoma Predator I share much of your sentiments mate. I pre-ordered the Cosmos and have been pretty unhappy with the very slow inside-out tracking improvements. Like you, my Cosmos is currently back in it's box and will stay there until it's inside-out tracking gets to a much better standard. Hopefully this will happen within the next few months. If and when this happens I will probably reinstall it and use it with my Vive Wireless Adapter. My Cosmos actually worked very well wireless and it would be handy for games that require a lot of moving around. I also was a little disappointed with the poor blacks/contrast of its lcd screens in darkish games/sims compared to my good old oled Oculus Rift cv1 w/2x sensors. I'm sorry to tell you but I think you may find the same with your lcd Index. Probably something you can get used to and hopefully game developers will start catering to lcd screens better in the near future with better lcd/oled in-game graphics options. I ended up buying a Vive Pro (Mclaren Edition) w/2.0 base stations/controllers a few months ago and I have been very happy with it. Perfect tracking and fantastic blacks/contrast in darkish games. I also purchased the latest Etsy Gear VR lens mod and this made everything even better. Even much better than my Rift cv1! My only complaint is that the Vive wands are not nearly as nice to use as either the Cosmos controllers or the Rift touch controllers. However, they are still very usable (and robust) and since I am currently mainly using my Pro for flight/racing sims this is not much of an issue. If Valve actually ever decides to start shipping Index bits to Australia I may consider buying their controllers. I have heard rumors that Vive may come out with base station compatible Cosmos-like controllers later this year and I would def be interested in those. Just a rumor right now, maybe just wishful thinking? I'm currently running a 2x PCVR headset setup with my Vive Pro and Oculus Rift cv1. Thanks to the pro's link box on/off switch and the Oculus Tray Tool's ability to automatically switch over audio/ovr settings, both systems are very easy to go back and forth from. I still many use my Rift for Oculus Store games and because I have a fairly powerful pc (i9 9900k, gtx1080ti, 32Gb ram...) I am able to use 2x Super Sampling on everything which really makes all these look very nice. Also, the touch controllers are much nicer to use. For now, I'm pretty happy with this setup. I'm also very happy with the free VivePort Infinity subscriptions I gotten with my recent Vive purchases. Between the pre-ordered Cosmos, initial Oculus sub offer, Vive Pro, and Wireless adapter offers I think my Infinity subscription is good until ~ August 2021! Most of these games play very well on both my Pro and Rift headsets so this is pretty handy. I cannot remember the last time I actually bought anything from the Oculus Store, lol! For now I'm just going to hang onto my Cosmos and hope for the best (= better tracking and less light sensitivity). I might be tempted to try the Elite SteamVR faceplate in the future but only if I could use these with better controllers (which are not yet available for me). So, until then, my Cosmos is in a holding pattern, lol!
  22. @SanityGaming I think that the main reason the new Cosmos Elite is coming with 1.0 base stations/controllers is because Vive still holds manufacturing rights for 1.0, but not for 2.0 base stations/controllers. This probably allows them to have more security of supply. Also, since the Cosmos Elite is still considered a 'consumer' product there is little difference in performance for most typical PCVR consumers. Lastly, the 1.0 versions are less expensive so it helps them keep the total price a little lower. This is all speculation on my part since I am in no way affiliated with HTC/Vive.
  23. @A-Jey Sorry you've been ill mate and I hope you are feeling better now. I'll probably take my Cosmos out of storage (hope that's a better place to mention, lol!) once I hear that its inside out tracking is better. I'm currently managing 2x VR headsets on my PC; Vive Pro w/2.0 base stations/controllers and an Oculus Rift cv1 w/2x sensors. Both of these are working great and because of the Pro Link Box on/off switch and the Oculus Tray Tool (OTT) switching options it's very easy to go from one to the other. When I do get my Cosmos going again I'll probably use it with my Vive Wireless adapter for games that require a bit more moving around, but are not too CPU intensive like most of my flight/racing sims are. Also, for some reason, I found that the wireless worked better with my Cosmos (better visuals/stability) than my Vive Pro. Like you, I'm not really interested in the SteamVR faceplate (even though I already have 2.0 base stations/controllers) because I prefer the Cosmos controllers over the Vive wands (and Index controllers are still not available in Australia). Also, I'm hoping that by running it wireless (without a link box) it will be easier to switch between it and my Vive Pro. One potential problem I have heard mentioned is that a Cosmos with a wireless adapter does not always install Cosmos updates very well and often you may need to convert it back to wired to complete firmware updates. Hence why I am reluctant to bring it out of storage until its tracking is improved a bit more. Again, hope you're feeling better mate.
  24. Is this the beta or public version? Either way, why post this in a separate thread?
  25. Well I think it would be useful if some opted out of beta and tried the new beta to see if there is any difference. Maybe someone like you who I have not heard anything form regarding 10.7. It would also be useful if Vive Support would tell us as well. As I mentioned earlier I currently have parked my Cosmos under my pool table and am waiting for new software, and positive comments, before reinstalling it.
